For those of you wanting to release maps to the public with your name on them, try to put at least a modicum of effort and excellence into them. These maps have none of these, and you're just risking a bad reputation by releasing them. Unfortunately you may have already done that by now. There's nothing wrong whatsoever with having fun in the level editor and building things, just to be clear there, but it doesn't mean the resulting work should be made available to the general public.

Also, name the starting BSP after the name of the unit: not after your handle, not after your clan, or other irrelevant goofball dipshit name. (These are fine for DM maps, but not SP.) And if it's in a separate gamedir, the gamedir and BSP should have the same name. In this case, both could be called "heatdown". This would allow you to just start Q2, type "game heatdown", wait, type "map heatdown" and start playing. 

He is a long time mapper, and has been always done maps that way, mainly for chaotic cooperative play. He likes doing them that way and has not changed ever the way he maps. 

... and I just went and published a fullbright test map with only doors in this very same forum. My reputation... is it tainted forever and ever? 😢

I really do not understand why you release these maps .... I have now been away for two years due to Quake2 & Quark problems, have learned Trenchbroom editor in the meantime, and have made ten Quake1 maps, of which only two are good enough with more than eighty hours of work, and I still have doubts about releasing them .............. it just damages your reputation .....
