I Remember..
reading that Quake 1 was ultimately, a deathmatch map contest, eventually strung together with an impromptu story, thus the incoherent level spatterings.
Well
dn3d was released pretty close to Quake - I think it was out a month or two beforehand actually. I guess that makes it entirely possible for Tim Willits to have come up with the idea of making DM specific maps. If Doom hadn't existed prior to that of course, I'm pretty sure people must have made DM only maps for it.

I hope duke forever comes out this year. I still don't think anything has really come terribly close to dn3d in terms of environmental interactivity. Well, maybe shadow warrior and blood - but they don't count.

Be nice to see blood 3 too, but I'm not holding my breath for that, since blood 2 was cack.
...
what phait said.
Mmmm . . . . Cough Syrup . . .

Ummm.
I hope duke forever comes out this year.

WOOOOOHOOOOOOLAAAADIIIIIDAAAAA!

Not gonna happen is it than, to be honest...

Nexuiz
Have a New ingame video for their Quake engine based deathmatch game. Looks quite nice. If you have been following it, you'll know that there is some nice looking levels/effects 'n stuff. Should be good.

Lol
that new badgers song is brilliant....even that can't stop us going out though
Nexuiz
Level design looks a bit spotty from the video and screenshots. Can't say I appreciate the skins I saw in the screenshots. No comments on the gameplay, of course.
Wow
Nexuiz looks like they took every horrible effect of new Quake engines, combined it with ugly models and skins, and topped it off with maps that have no interesting architecture, and appear to be the flatest hall roaming deathmatch maps ever built. And I hope not all the music is OMG HARD ROCK METAL GUITARS!! Truly, this sets new marks in crap.
W00t Go Scampie
Scampie is a lonely cock sucker that just needed to release some steam, understandable, maybe he could possibly increase his mapping skills so that he actaully might be able to mean what he said about the Nexuiz maps.

well i agree that the music is terrible, but i thought it fitted the video. I didn't really care about the music when i was making the video.

but none of the maps are hall roaming maps, I *hate* that type of deathmatch style. Even check out the map screens on the media page, none of them are hall roaming.
HARD ROCK METAL GUITARS!!
BTW, I was replaying some Quake 2 maps the other day, and I could have sworn I heard a Type O Negative tune on the CD. What's the story there? Just my 'magination?
HM Guitars 4eva !!
Not that I ever listen to game music, it's the first thing that gets turned off. Plus it's much better than techno fagot stuff.

and topped it off with maps that have no interesting architecture, and appear to be the flatest hall roaming deathmatch maps ever built. No, they are nothiung like you maps Scampie
Theif - Deadly Shadows
No, I don't like the game (Thief series), but here's what the makers say about why they probably wont be releasing an editor for the game.

". . . I don't *think* we will, and it's largely because as games become more complex, especially as our style of simulation driven game gets deeper and more complex... it's just that there are very few people who can actually take advantage of all that power. . ."

Has ruffled the feathers of a few in the community. In this day and age it could be like shooting yourself in the foot. Especially seeing how the Unreal engine is highly modable, and users of the engine basically expect that with U engined games.
Oh Well Then
THey can just say GOODBYE to their stinky little game, seeing as how if they don't keep releasing new versions every year or so, people will either get burned out on it or bored with the lack of new material, and but stuck in either or both of those situations because there is no community offering custom mods or maps or whatever -- and there preciousl, compilcated, deep game will wither away and die like an unused sexual member on an Antarctic expedition. And you can take that to the bank.

VoreLord
Don't pedal your ancient links here you red necked prick.
Well
A big FUCK YOU, you pathetic excuse for a human being
Hay
I didn't know about that actually -- thanks VoreLord, you're an outstanding example of people who aren't irritating Canadians ;D
Well
Thanks, I had never seen it before either, it was posted at ozunreal yesterday, they obviously hadn't seen it either. But I guess Mr Pushplay, being the superior intelligent being that he so obviously is, found it so irritating, that he had to actually read/view, or click the link again (oh the injustice of it all), that he felt he must deal out some verbal abuse.

Please pushplay, do me a favour, and "pushSTOP"
Especially For Pushplay
WOWThe Quake demo has been release, get it NOW !!!

Sorry to everyone else (except for Scampie maybe)
Is This Baldur's Gate?

Very reminiscient of Fallout, I know BG is made by the same dev... maybe I'll pick this up.
Why Aren't You All Flaming Each Other About Nexuiz?
That looked like it was going to be fun to watch.
Sorry RPG,
It isn't Single Player so I can't get excited one way or the other for it. Though if the maps are nice, I would be willing to load it up to make some screenies.

I recommend fallowing the Alien vs. Aliens debate a few threads below, but so far it has been entirely civilized.
