Starbuck:
Thanks, downloading.

I may not contribute to the Speedmapping events, but I do thoroughly enjoy their results.
Looks Nice
All mappers are attention whores.

The upside-down lava with fireballs shooting down looks like the most interesting part of it.
However...
The fact that Blue's News never mentions new quake map releases, but did mention this, a map that is not only not new, but not released, is absurd.
Metlslime, I Agree.
i would imagine whoever is responsible for the "news" at blues news, is not even aware new maps are still being made for quake 1.

but they should be.

maybe i should email them.
Well I Don't
If Blue started covering new map releases for every game as old as Quake no one would ever bother to read down as far as the real news. This is more like a human interest story than an anouncement about a map.
Regrettably
i think Pushplay is right, as much as i'd like to get angry for quake being under-represented. It's acceptable to see huge releases for a game being noted though, like the ut2003 community pack. I'm not sure if Nehahra got linked there, but that probably deserved it, if we're talking quake releases.
You Know...
i could not release some maps, too! that would make a great story!
But Anyway,
my complaint is that he did cover this, not that he doesn't cover other maps.
You Don't Understand Metlslime!
This map was going to be OFFICIAL! It was going to be a PROFESSIONAL RELEASE. Can you even comprehend that!? My loins tingle just thinking how the world could be differant if this map had made it into a honest to goodness retail game!
Metl:
Let them know about Rubicon 2 right away.
Re: Scamp
ehehehe.

You said 'loins'

eheheeheh.
Who Opened That Door?
Arrr the light, I cannot stand it anymore...
:o
Hi sock. I have this strange feeling--it's like you don't come around anymore. How odd.
Wrath
It would have been funnier if I had submitted it before reliezing I typed it as 'lions'.
Hmm...
Blues has always posted the news I submitted. Battle Mech, Jeht, Galactix, etc - they all got tiny little entries in the news, but news nonetheless.
Hmm
I'll have to try that with future releases, Wazat. Gotta p1mp the work for all it's worth.

Whenever I've submitted a map release to PQ, they've posted about it; however, PQ is oriented towards the games I map for, and also they don't usually have much news to post.

you don't need to submit map news to PQ... just submit it here and they'll pick it up a day later.
Not Releasing Maps
Ah-ha! Bals plan is obviously to get himself in the news at Blues for (not) releasing bal3dm5.

It'll never work Bal! Just release it now kthx :)
Scampie
Yes but I don't like to take my chances. With IGN buying GSI, they're probably now forbidden from lurking on community forums.

Hmm... that wasn't as funny as it was supposed to be.
Er...
my PC has started displying random letters/characters all over the screen when it boots up.

Once windows actually gets going everything is fine and their seems to be no effect on performance or stability.

But still its kind of weird, its never done that before in the 2 years i have had it and i am worried it might be a sign of somethign bad building up, eg hard drive crash?

any suggestions?

Having windows run on a system for 2 years is not going to do wonders for your system consistency. Over time windows has a tendency to b0rk itself up; don't worry about your display, but be on the look out for more problems that may creep up.
I Somehow Have An Unusual Windows
It works fine for 5 years(!)

uwf: I also think it's a windows problem, not a HDD crash, just re-install windows
XIII Map Editor
You can now grab a map editor for XIII over here: http://www.gamershell.com/news_BXIIIBMapEditor.shtml

May want to check your video card perhaps - I had to swap mine with the modem slot so the new (then, 56k) modem would fit in a PCI slot and ever since I will sometimes, not often, get glitchy characters right before Win loads.
Could Use A Little Tech Help Over Here...
OK, first things first: the Front Computer can't see the CD-ROM drive under Win95 - it simply doesn't appear. Boot from a floppy, there it is. Try reinstalling Win95, it won't accept the product ID.

Q: Will installing Win98 cause the hard drive to be reformatted? I don't wanna lose the data, but we *really* need the CD-ROM to load drivers for their new digital camera onto it. It's the only one with USB ports.

OK, second slightly related question:

Let's say I replace the Back Computer's network card with a USB hub card, and hook up the cable modem to it via USB. Now, could I then plug the Front Computer into the modem as well, via the Ethernet port, thus sharing the modem?
