what are the fog setting user cvars for q3?
Shadow's q3shw25 looks very ugly in parts as you move through the level and the fog and lighting interact rather awfully. Is this how q3 is meant to be with fog or are there quality settings I'm not aware of?

(wow, what a nice looking map!)
i saw nothing really odd with fog+lighting, except the sky flickers slightly when you move the view around. (both q3 and ioq3)
i take it this is the first time you've had visual problems?

first time I've noticed it in q3, could be because there's not too many all fog levels (lun3dm1 is the only other one coming to mind).
It may be a limitation the way volumetric fog is handled but I thought it could also be a lower quality fog setting which I'm not aware of.

the best way to describe it as banding of the fog as you move through the level.
Checked lun3dm1 too and it's there when you move towards a corner where there is fog.
Banding?

sounds like 16bit maybe? i dunno, i don't remember seeing any of that when i played except that thing i mentioned about the sky flickering when the view angle changes.
Afaik there's no quality setting for fog in q3a, but what you describe shouldn't be there I guess. 16bit could cause that. Is q3tourney5 looking strange, too?
Its Definitely Set To 32bit

I'll try out some other foggy maps.

Now that you say it, I got that too. Not on q3tourney5, the fog is much thicker there.
I get it with the stock config too. nvidia on Linux.
Ugly animation (ignore the uglyness and apparent wrong colour/brightness/gamma):

The greenish shape is a "fog radius".

thats what I'm referring to.
necros, look at the corner :)
You get that only mildly in lun3dm1 in corners but the fog in that is thicker too I guess?
havent tried q3tourney5 yet.

ok yeah, i have that too. i guess i was just subconsciously ignoring it because once you pointed it out, it was very obvious.
it's odd because it does look like 16bit colour, but i too have it set to 32bit.
Maybe

its how nvidia drivers handle q3 fog? Although I have never really noticed it before.
I have no idea, might ask on q3w to see if they know.
Ok For Some Reason

I cant start new threads on q3w.
Mystery remains.

I got ATI Radeon, and same herringbone banding at skybox corners for me (set at 32 bit). Fog also flickers off at some areas.
Re: Can't Start Threads At Q3w
I have no idea why, but over at q3w the button to start a new thread only appears when you open an existing thread (it's at the top, next to the 'reply to this thread'-button).
