Another 5 maps on the fire at ..::LvL. This update has a few very interesting levels. The first is 'Unholy Formula' by Zihaben and Himitsu, the second is 'Stoneface Islands' by sst13. As well as that, there is a cell-shader re-release from acid called, 'unbalanced II'
* Unholy Formula by Zihaben and Himitsu - DM 3-6 player
* Stoneface Islands by sst13 - DM/TeamDM/CTF 4-8 player
* unbalanced II by acid - DM/Tourney/TeamDM 2-6 player
* Dance Hall 2 by FeniX - CPMA/DM/Tourney/TeamDM 2-6 player
* Edge Arena by FeniX - DM/TeamDM 4-12 player
In other news, the 'browse' section of the site has been re-worked. It is a lot closer to the old ..::LvL look and feel. Fans of the old site should enjoy it. Just select the browse link in the top right.
30 second videos and 360 degree panoramas for all 5 are available.

..::LvL download for zih_weirdf.zip
An FTP connection is now being created to the MHGaming ..::LvL Mirror.
RIGHT. And stupid me thought your shitty javascript was wasting my precious seconds instead of just giving me the dl link. --, too. Oh, and your gallery wastes my time, too. I need to click on individual images and wait for them to load, instead of having the page loading everything at once and just scrolling down. I'm surprised how few fuckups the javascript has, but the ui is still shitty. When i opened lvl.com, i needed to stare a few seconds until i remembered vaguely that some sort of navigation hides under the useless timeline.
Of course lots of sites do the dl thing, they can't be wrong!
OK...

shitty javascript was wasting my precious seconds
The download pop-up is to keep track of the download numbers and to prevent spammers from downloading all the maps at once, like they did a few years when I allowed direct download links. Without it, the site would have been closed due to running cost. So I guess I 'waste' about 2 'precious' seconds of your time - or I shut the site - you don't have to be too smart to work out the best choice. Besides that, you don't need to login or stand in queues or look for the 'hidden' download link amongst a heaps ads... I could go on.
I need to click on individual images and wait for them to load, instead of having the page loading everything at once and just scrolling down...
Interesting... I could load everything up, which would take a few more 'precious' seconds, then have you click on the scroll bar once they load, but why waste bandwidth and time when you can click and load only what you want to see. Saves me bandwidth and its faster.

I'm not sure what to say here :] I guess 'try the big 'Browse' link at the top right, and hide the timeline (and forget about it). That should fix most of the 'shitty ui' for you.
Serious, since the changes to the layout the site traffic has doubled (but this is not as big an issue like the mass downloads from direct link spammers) and the return visits are up too.
If this means I lose the odd user like yourself to gain many others, so be it.
There has been nothing in your feedback that was constructive, there was nothing in your diatribe that makes me even want to make changes for you. That said, I'm surprised a wasted so much time on this rely :]
... Correction...

to prevent spammers err? not having looked at the code, but if the ua can figure it out, someone with bad intentions can figure it out. It's like copy protection for games, you don't really stop the bad guys and piss off all your regular users.

What? This http://www.hydro74.com/rebirth/print.html is the perfect type of 'gallery' (for a tabbed browser, anyways). If you (role: user) want something better, then just have your ua take care of it, not some shitty javascript.
try... see? you need to explain me how to use your site.
Site traffic or hits? :)
Oh, and all of my feedback was constructive. It was basically missing all the 'remove ... to make me happy' shite, i thought you would work that out...
(shitty ui = stay to the established rules, don't design your own [webdesign 101])
Oh Yeah

your reviews are worth nothing when you don't establish trust. if i know none of the reviewers, how can i judge if they have the same standards i have?

Megaman take it to the nonsense thread.
Trigger-On - Dont listen to this miserable person. This dude is obviously suffering from retardation of the brain, or accute anal retention.
Your website looks pretty fucking cool to me! Also I dont have a copy of Q3, but when I do I know where I'll be looking for custom maps!! :D
A Kell Q3 map?!?!

That website is ugly, and looks like it was thrown together by a chimp. Fucking rediculous. It just loads all of its content on one page (!?!?)
Atleast on trigger-on's website you dont have to wait for five minutes for all of the pictures to load before you get your bandwidth back. And even then it's not exactly gonna win an award for web-design is it?!?! I mean what the hell wrong side of bed did you wake up on this morning?!?! Go and pick on some other meaningless bullshit.
Traffic

If traffic with direct links is that much of a problem I could host a mirror at the www.Shub-Hub.com. That might be a bit slow download sometimes but direct and leech friendly.
I remember being very hateful against the new design early on because it felt so "non-solid" (like a freehand doodle instead of a plain Excel table). But somehow it works. :)
Unholy Formula by Zihaben and Himitsu has some nice post-apocalyptic-urban-abandonism soundtrack btw.

Must admit, when Tigger first changed LvL it was a bit much. But I have no issues with it now, was only a change, and I like some of the little features. It IS a bit busy but not too much to ruin navigation. There's always arguments between established rules and innovative ideas. (most turn out crap) but we do need change, just not at the expense of intuitive nav or speed.
Also thumbnails have to be of a size that you want to click, not too tiny that you have to.
All images on one page is fine but has it's drawbacks too (if you nav away, having to reload etc)
Saying that, I was never keen on Q3 anyway :)
But I do pop by LvL to see what's going on and enjoy roaming the site.(vids = good)
*Off to dig out Tiggers Q1 maps :)

@Spirit: Thanks for the hosting offer! The three mirrors that ..::LvL currently has seem to have balanced and reduced a lot of the initial download issues.
If FileFront change to a download queue system or a login one, I may take you up on that offer :]

I for one really appreciate all the effort put into ..::LvL. I've found so many cool Maps for Quake 3 I wouldn't have otherwise known about without this site.
I do have two little constructive criticisms...
1) Many of the links to "Authors site" are dead. Would be nice to have them cleaned up.
2) A lot of the older anonymous comments are just plain ridiculous. People swearing and arguing. Clean them up and delete the offensive ones with swearing. It makes the site look tacky.

Lots of ungrateful bastards around these parts lately. I'm surprised nobody is abusing you for not releasing the source code to your "shitty" website, Tig :)

@Kiiro Karnage: I clean up some comments as I see them pop-up, but I don't goo looking for them.
As to the dead author links, I've started work on a 'link checker', to do a lot of the work for me, but it takes time and it not a high priority at the moment.
@Fribs: Thanks! Good to hear from you.

I don't play Q3 anymore because the luddites in my office prefer to play the same fucking 3 demo Q4demo maps ad infinitum. But I took a look at the site after all the complaining on this board and it looked good, worked well and did what I wanted.
It didn't suck my dick and bring me a beer though.
There's no symbol for what I mean to say.
Good work, Tigger-oN.

Dude. Fuck LvL... all my old q3 maps are reviewed there and people can see what I shitty q3 mapper I was. This is all your fault Tigger.
I Agree

with the angry man about the image galleries. I can think of absolutely no good reason that I should see a loading bar before a 640x360 image pops up. Stuff like that should be immediate in this day and age, even with a sub-par webhost and/or ISP.
I'm a fan of clean, simple web design [much like this very site]. LvL isn't visually my cup of tea [but then the first thing I do after formatting my disk is go back to the Windows Classic look] and some of the bells and whistles irritate me, but it's still the best Q3A level resource out there and it really doesn't take long to figure out how to use it.
