In Response To Article By Jehar

I spotted this over on doomworld forums:
http://www.quakeexpo.com/articles.php?id=1
Let's have the hardcore gamers know that they can have an influence over the kind of maps they play.
Why would they care? They have memorised aerowalk (hello inertia!), q2dm1 and q3dm17 and are happy with that.
I know what you mean with the article, but bringing hardcore gamers into anything is nothing but trouble. I would like to see more cooperation between the other 'divisions' of the community though.
There's An Interview Up

Very good work on that interview scar3crow. =)

the second long-standing question, the nature of the Shambler's skin was answered too. Go read it!
No Eyes My Ass!

Eyes And Pies
#28 posted by scar3crow on 2006/07/24 09:58:23
For the longest time I didnt notice the eyes in the fiend, and my imagination ran with the bloody horns as being spikes that had been rammed through its head or something - just part of me making Quake even darker than it actually is. I was disappointed later on to notice that they do have eyes. But if anyone ever tells me shamblers and vores have eyes, I will give the perception of a shal-rath! Or something less melodramatic like chide them mildly on irc.
I dont think the grunts eyes are open though, looks like theyre squinting really hard from an icecream headache or something =)

they should interview american and the others about how the episodes came to be. that would be fun to read i think.
Good Idea

I don't think I've read any interview of mr McGee.

Thanks mostly to releases by MadFox, the Speedmappers, Than, Trinca; interviews of Mindcrime and John Romero; previews by Headthump, Hrimfaxi, Pulsar, and Than; textures by JPL and Starbuck; and tutorials by Metlslime and Preach. Cheers to you all!!!
P.S. Where was Kell? I was hoping for some new, gooey Quoth goodness ;)
I Wanted More Quoth Too...
#33 posted by than on 2006/07/29 21:44:27
but I knew there was nothing planned as I was asking Kell and Necros about the possibility of stuff that I wanted to use in my upcoming map being added. Thought there might be a few big surprises/reveals - not neccessarily from Quoth, as I don't know everything that goes on around here, and most new releases are a surprise to me :)
That Really Was

a very cool expo. I had planned on contributing something for once, but instead of -finishing- one of my many 'in progress' maps I just started another three. :(
The highlight of the expo for me comes down to a toss up between DM3RMX and the new Base Textures.
I was hoping somebody would release a large specifically designed coop map [preferably Quoth-based], because I have a lan party coming up in a few weeks, but as far as I can see nobody did. :(

just play some big maps packs that support coop. I bet marcher supports coop - that would take a while to do with even 4 people on hard I reckon
...and masque of the red death...
Then play the powersphere quest for Quake 2. It's brutal, utterly unfair, but a lot of fun.
Aye
#36 posted by Text_Fish on 2006/07/30 07:52:30
I have a little list of maps that would be good for it. ne_marb from Quoth is at the top, it should be great fun.
Cheers, I'll have a look at Powersphere.

Don't take my words for truth regarding this - but I think I remember kinn saying something about potentially breaking a bunch of the script/entitiy stuff going on in it if played in coop.
Qexpo Poll

FrikaC is holding a poll on the inside3d forums about whether the next QExpo should be in 2008 returning to the biennial tradition, 2007 to return to the odd numbered year pattern and biennial, or 2007 and have it be annual?
If The Organizers Can Do It Every Year
#40 posted by HeadThump on 2006/08/01 09:20:00
without getting burned out of it, that would be ideal. There seems to be a number of projects going on at any given time to make that a viable option.
Well
#41 posted by scar3crow on 2006/08/01 10:30:09
organizers change with each one, thus each expo has a slightly different flavor
i am up for doing it again, but i think others should do it for the sake of variety. perhaps a mapper or engine coder next year? its mostly been the quakec crowd - excluding myself (i dont know what id be classified as)
but it should give us a good taste of the Quake community as a whole.
