Everyone's (read: mine) favorite HL2SP yet released now has a part two, establishing itself as an episodic add-on with at least one more part on its way.

I didn't have my original saves from the first time I played Metastasis 1, but it had been long enough that I played through anyway. You're probably not going to want to start part 2 without your guns and junk from part 1. |

Yes, it's an absolute amazing mission! Many people complained, that it's short. Hell, how tons of work have to be to create something terribly detailed and scripted thing alone? Yes it's not soo long, but if You aren't running through it, but You do as we, mappers (ehh sorry, can I say it?) do, so we take care of every little detail, then it gives You a 30-45 minutes wonderful experience!
I have to admit, that this is the most polished hl2 thing I have seen. This guy is really-really know something.
Congratulation Adam! If You still have energy, time, patience and toughness to make maps, then keep up this great mission, to give us more pleasureful moments like these!

yep its a great map, and even if you just start map 2 without playing map1 you still get all the guns and some ammo that you would have after finishing map1, so thats cool.
Eagerly awaiting ep3

I didn't think the gameplay was fabulous (though not exactly bad), but the concept, atmosphere and presentation were all first class. Props to Adam Foster, whoever that is, for some seriously cool work.
I would like to see bit more variation in combat and some cutting down on the level symmetry though.
I Think These

maps contain better gameplay than HL2 itself. The Combine actually seem to have been injected with a little intelligence which is nice, and I love not having the gravity gun. The gameplay takes me back to HL1. Yay!
Again A Pretty Nice Level

even though construction could have been less symmetrical, indeed. gameplay was very enjoyable - enemies in small portions rather than big hordes. this added to the atmosphere. the train rocked. and finally some headcrabs, too. :)
i think there were some coherency issues (or maybe i just didn't look closely enough), like when you have to smash the wall with the girders to get to the control room, it has no other entrance?! or the two headcrab-rockets in the hall, with no clue where they could have come from (like e.g. crashed through the ceiling or dropped from a crane/conveyor belt).
one thing i wondered about while playing this was how much hl2 editing relies on prefabs that already come with the game (or the sdk for that matter), the ship wrecks, computer terminals and so on. what about those specimen canisters and the train?
does hl2 make it easier to modify the models/entities and how they interact with each other (gary's mod style)?
Yes

you can actually create entire physics setups in garrys mod and then export it to a .map for use in your hl2 level.
I've never tried setting up physics objects in hammer myself tho, just dabbled around a bit. Compareed to GTK it is still a pile of ass.
Damn Right

Hammer is horrible. I swear they have regressed a few simple interface things that made Worldcraft pleasant to use. Adding select undo only gets on my tits too :)

I meant to post "making me want to install HL2 again". I blame than's tits.
Awesome.

Really impressive map. Good all round but the designs and lighting in the "train hall" were particularly impressive. It's a good demonstration of how this custom map for HL2 differs from most maps for Doom3 - using impressive designs instead of relying on complex textures and lighting.
I thought the gameplay was good too - consistently and increasingly challenging but pretty well balanced. It had me on my toes most of the time, and had good use of most enemy. Certainly good value for money, took a while to complete. Some of the progression was interesting too.
All in all a very good map that just about compensates for the mapper's irritatingly poncy-arsed website ;).
Stuck !!

I thought it was great too..........until I got stuck after getting through that force field and unplugging the power plug.....came out, took the combine out..and now I've been running round in circles completely at a loss as to what to do next......HELP...please before I totally lose interest
