Some Good Dm Maps!

metlslime, xen, zwiffle and myself just finished playing a bit on these maps... good stuff!
Gleeb's was a bit boring, his first sm, but I did like the fact that it had the single player start where you fall into the void... TAKE THAT YOU SINGLE PLAYER LOSERS! :D
Metlslime's was the best of the week IMO. Some great looks, a classic theme and style, well balenced, and a solid layout. Very little to fault here, nice work.
Xen's map was pretty nice, kind of a 'geometery contest' type map built as a tall cyilinder with 4 side areas. Lots of area to battle in, but the rocket launcher was too easy to camp, would have been better placed on the bottom floor center with the red armor on top.
Zwiffle's, while not being the best in the world to look at, was accually a blast to play. Good layout, good weapon placement, good time had by all! Keep it up man!
This week, we all need to learn from my mistakes. My mistake being 'not saving your speedmap every few mins'. I never saved my map at all this session, and worldcraft crashed on me with just entities and some teleports to finish. :( So save often, even if you're sure you won't lose it, it's worth doing.

Can't really comment on Gleeb's since I was too busy trying to set up QW whilst it was being played on. However, Gleeb you are a bastard for putting the info_player_start there.
Metlslime's was alright.. couldn't really get the best out of it though since it was designed for less than 4 players. Seemed to play okay though even then, save a few bottlenecks and areas which needed clipping. Looked great too, nice classic dm2 style.
Zwiffle's was cool to play but I wasn't too keen on the RL placement, that room got a bit spammy at times and alot of the upper half of the map was left unused. Plus some of the lifts were annoying as you have to jump onto them to make them go up. Still apart from that it was pretty fun, and for a first speedmap wasn't *that* bad to look at either.. nice one.
Mine focused more on looks than gameplay... worked better with weapstay on, when it was off Scampie just hogged the RL all game and kicked my ass :-( .. I originally put it up there to spread out the fighting more, but weapon placement hasn't exactly always been a strength of mine. Still I'm happy with how it turned out, plays well with bots :D

Metl's was definetely the best... perfect size for the number of people playing, great atmosphere, flow etc. It worked perfectly.
Xen's was very keen on the eye, but too big for the number of players we had.
Although we didn't play Gleeb's, i'm sure his was 3rd best. Although the teleport that warped you right in front of the teleport was kind of wierd...

I sent a map to Starbuck for inclusion in the next pack a while ago. It was an SP map, so maybe that's why it wasn't included. Maybe I should have sent the map to Scampie. Anyways, Should I send you that map Scampie?

the running of the sessions alternates between myself and scampie each week, so if you want a map included next week, send it to me, and if you want it included in two weeks time, send it to scampie.
We don't add maps to packs that have already been released for a number of reasons, one being that it complicates things, and often means people would have to download a pack twice if they want all the maps.
Shit!

A thousand apoglogies Pulsar! I totally forgot about your map when putting together the pack! :( I'm really sorry about that.
And yeah, me and Starbuck alternate between running each event, and some weeks (like this week) we don't get a chance to speak with each other. Best thing to do if you're unsure is to email it to both of us, and the first one to include it, will.
Btw: Starbuck

emailed you some info, plus asked if you'll add Pulsar's map to sm61 because I'm a goof.

I'm unable to read my PQ email due to demons in my PC :(
i can read from my hotmail account though which is at:
starbuck_dude@hotmail.com
I'll certainly add Pulsar's map, no probs, provided i can exorcise these demons in time for the session :)

that you used WC to position the lights but I seriously doubt WC did the actual light calculations ...
Thanks anyway, I found out that you've used LordHavoc's HLight.

Ah, you're right, you asked about light.
The lighting as in the distribution is NOT as I intended.
The original uses LordHavoc's tools, as that's what I have in my dpcompile.bat
lighting *was* optimised for DP's RTL mode.

I don't play Quake DM, but Metslime's and Zwiffle's map are nice. I like the layouts. Xen's looked good, but I couldn't get a feel for how it would play. Gleeb's was...interesting. Thanks guys, I am looking foward to the next pack. (one day I'll do a speed map of my own)
