Whoever you are, you're a fucking cock - and a boringly unclever one at that - and once again I wish the moderators had the power to delete posts.
VB: Well, GL then. When you don't get much response you'll probably start digging in the crates more. And yeah, I watched a video, looked like there could be some impressive stuff but the fucking awful engine crap and other stuff distracted from the quality of the tricks. Do a normal Quake video and I'd be more interested.
BTW.

I don't mean any beef like that but I firmly believe that people should explore what's out there. And, I respect what you're doing, but I can;t get a clear perspective on it with engine mods.
Anyway, enough, blah.

worked fine for me, version patched to 1.10, but like I said I'm running it on XP pro but SP1. SP2 buggers a few things up so I stuck with SP1.

Have You Tried Modifying The Game VM?
#8498 posted by HeadThump on 2005/08/15 12:08:00
I gave it a go some time back when CodeArena was active. Q3 has some of the most difficult pathing
I have ever seen (Windows NT being the OS of choice for Id at the time may have had something to do with it).
With Q1 and Q2 you can put the code anywhere on your hard drive and have it compile, but Q3, whoah, it is picky, picky. I solved the problem for myself by putting GCC, the source and components (Q3ASM I believe) all in the same file and compiling it. Good Times.
I'd love to see what is under the hood there. Q3 runs quite lovely on the P2 300, where as QFusion chokes on this lower end system. I have got to stop blowing my money, and get a proper Motherboard.

I'm actually glad to see this happening, looking forward to what will be put out with it.
I also had no idea you could release a commercial game provided you ship your source code with. At least that's what I read from I believe Gamespy's article on Carmack's keynote.
Doom 3 Movie More Footage

I was fortunate to download WSAD.TV's footage at QuakeCon, which included footage from the Doom movie. They have since taken it down as apparently they couldn't show this publicly!
So... maybe I could trim it down (it's 170mb) to the movie sequence - you have GOT to see the pinky demon it's just like in Doom 3. I was excited to see things coming together - even if the movie isn't entirely faithful, it has me more excited.
On the other hand I know of a couple here who object to posting magazine scans (while I see this done at other forums, even 3DR) - so if I trim it down maybe I'll upload it.

You should read the GPL (GNU General Public License), the license that id releases its code under. Not too long, and not too bogged down in legalese. There's nothing at all that prevents you from charging for GPLed content as long as the source code remains available. It's just that not many people have actually done this, and people continue to assume that "free as in speech" content must also be "free as in beer."

is one model.
But as ID still own the copyright they can still do closed source engine mods for paying customers (not that they will for Q3A by now, but...).

Whether one likes remakes or not, you have to agree they're going about in the right direction actually utilizing the D3 engine for what it's worth, unlike other remakes.

Well, I think the cause for random lockups has now been properly identified: it was the CPU overheating. I underclocked it from 1400 Mhz to 1050 by dropping the bus speed to 100. The idle temperature has dropped from 65c to 57c and I was now able to play Doom 3 without it locking up the machine on me. I guess I will have to look into some new proper cooling...
By the way, whilst Doom 3 did run, it looked like shit (something similar to those Doom3-on-VooDoo2 screenshots you might've seen around). Are there any known problems with the latest NVIDIA ForceWare 77.77 drivers, GF4 Ti4200 cards and Doom 3? I recall Doom 3 looking way better before (even tho it did lock up every 30 seconds or so).
