Well - "it might not be so bad" isn't any concern, most of it looks well done. I just think it was a dumb call on giving it an originality award. Although as it's hard to innovate without calling upon elements of been-there-done-that, your 'execution is everything' point is a good one.

it does at least seem more "original" than most major commercial FPS (doesn't require much to do that though). 
Maybe Originality Award 
is just poor naming for the award. Something more like, the What Trips Our Trigger Award would
be more truthful.

I want you guys to know that I got a headache at dinner today, came home and took a nap, woke up at 2 in the morning and had a fucking awesome idea for an easy way to produce shirts with pixellated classic game sprites and/or internet smileys on them, that won't wash out or suck.

I'm going to experiment with it this week. Looks like I've already found a good way to blow disposable income!

In other words, my idea turned out to be trash. Will attempt via normal screen printing methods at a much slower pace and report later.

Also, metl, FEAR is Monolith's new shooter that combines the worn out real world weapon tactical nonsense of Counterstrike with the worn out bullet time of Max Payne and adds clumsy watery controls for the win.

CZG, good point but I couldn't be arsed to try it. The FEAR MP test was the worst thing that has ever disgraced my PC and if they can't get basic things like movement, feel, designs, weapons effects, and most of all running speeds to be remotely acceptable in a 2-box map test then I'm not wasting valuable kbs on a demo. 
Fear Sp Demo 
I played it, it wasn't that it was exceptionally bad, just that it wasn't noticeably good. Mediocre theme, very samey weapons, nothing really 'oh hey thats cool I should buy this when it comes out' ever came to me when playing. Also, it's really short.

/me goes back to battlefield 2... 
How Hot Is Too Hot For TBird 1400 Mhz? 
Basically the question is in the subject line. I have an older AMD Thunderbird 1400 Mhz machine that seems to lock-up and reboot by itself pretty often. I've checked the RAM which was okay and also tried installing different OS'es and the problem persists in all versions of Windows, Linux and FreeBSD, so I am figuring heat is my problem.

The system runs at about 60-62C idle with temperature rising to 69-70c under heavy load. Is this too much? What are normal idle/load temperatures for a 1400 Mhz AMD Thunderbird? I am kind of stuck on this PC for quite some time so I think I should purchase a new heatsink/cooler for it, what would be a good recommendation for a system with a Socket A motherboard and a case without a whole lot of free space?

My another concern is: since this crashing and self-rebooting has been going on for a long time (over a year) and I am only now getting to fixing it, could it be that the damage is permanent if overheating is indeed the cause of the problems? I am not too keen on spending money on new cooling equipment for an old computer only to find out it doesn't help at all.

60-62 C idle to me definitely sounds too warm, but not necessarily red-alarm-alert warm. I have an Intel Celeron that idles in the mid 30's (with the air-conditioning in the nearby room on) to 40c (with the AC off, on a warm summer day). After/during games it goes up between maybe, 5 - 7 degrees.

Anyway, from what I understand AMD's generally run cooler than Intels but this may or may not depend upon which CPUs of either.

If you're looking for a new cooling solution, run by AMD's website - they have suggested/recommended products. 
Some Additional Info 
I can't run the vast majority of game released past 1999 or so. Games like Quake 3, UT2004, RtCW and Doom 3 lock up my system or make it reboot almost immideately upon launch (5 min tops). However I can run Warcraft 3 without issues. Ripping a CD to MP3 or trying to burn a CD in my burner are also causing lock-ups. The system also seems to sometimes lock-up and reboot at random when doing nothing (for example if I leave it running overnight).

Oh and another problem I am having is that the machine only boots up once per 10 attempts or so. When I push the power button, the CPU and HD activity leds are constantly on and all the fans are rotating, but I am not getting any signal on my monitor. And I have tried changing the video card.

Im getting ~50-55 playing D3 for A2200+ (1800mhz afair). And Im not even running the CPU fan fullspeed. Get a new cooler u

Can you underclock it and see if stability improves? If it does, then get better cooling, if it doesn't it's probably something else.

Those Tribe 2 Terrain textures can be extremely useful. As pretty as the Unreal terrain texture is (used so well in Precipice Continuum by Tim Elek ~ anyone keep up with him, btw?), I'm tired of seeing it.

Greystone Shuffle is a medium sized DM map for Kingpin. It is a conversion of the Quake2 map by Shon "Maric" Shaffer , who is an excellent and prolific Quake2 mapper. The map is mainly open with 2 levels. It uses mostly all KP textures, has a gothic type theme, and has ample weapons and other items.

I asked this in another thread a few days ago. The question went monumentally unanswered, but I'd still like to know. So, at it again;

Are there any q1 map collectives out there still? Working on a pack using a professional approach to it would be a good primer for aspiring amateurs, and great fun to boot. It's a very useful experience, working several mappers on the same map, trading tasks, playing to the strengths of the members, and whatnot.

(AFAIK, dapak was every man for himself, as it were.)

Still working out HOM's in the last maps for Abandon, but sofar I got most maps recompiled with better compilers.
