What?
I don't see anybody with monstrous eyebrows at Raven's website...
Mobiles
Yes, it seems that in the UK it is compulsary for every child over the age of 6 years old to carry a mobile and spend approximately 85% of their time chatting, texting and otherwise mucking around with it.

Thus by silently planting their sleeper cells within our Nation's youth, this sinister mobile technology has enabled the shockingly rapid invasion of the Chav culture that has taken a stranglehold on our little island in recent years. With such an advanced communications infrastructure in place, the Chavs stalk the suburbs with ruthless efficiency and malice.

These mobile units also serve as the hubs of the Chav's main defense system. There have been unconfirmed reports of Chavs being taken down after having their mobiles confiscated, although mobiles are not their sole source of power. Ipods, wielded by the Chavs are now appearing in the cities. The popularity of these ominous Ipod machines amongst the Chavs is beginning to tower over even that of the mobiles, and as a result they have the ability to strike unprecedented terror into the heart of the populace.

The microwave death rays emitted by the mobiles have the power to disorientate the Chav's victims and render them susceptable to their secondary attacks, often preceeded by blood-curdling howls of "Gis twenny pee mate!" and "Oi got a fag mate?"

The acrid smell of a peculiar greenish Weed, grown and propagated by the Chavs has a tendency to creep into areas of recent Chav occupation.

Let us hope and pray that the World can band together and defeat the Chav menace, before it is too late.
Question About Fitzquake Usage
do people still use idgamma with it?
Not Me.

Nitin
why bother if there's proper gamma support in it?
I Use Idgamma
with any GL-engine. Even h/w gamma can't bring out the colours like idgamma can, if properly set. The only time it doesn't work well is with extremely bright texes (classic example: kjsp1).
What?
There are different gammas now?
Nitin
Idgamma with FitzQ - yes, because I've gotten used to how it looks with my own custom idgamma-generated palette/colormap.

I'd have to echo what aguiRe said: as far as I seen (not that I've fiddled much with FQ's settings) you just can't get the same colour vibrancy and contrast etc that idgamma provides, just by using in-engine commands.
For Anyone That Is Curious
If you don't know what idgamma is, check out this page:

http://www.planetquake.com/frib/glquake.html#Idgamma

If you'd like to see the difference it can make just replacing the standard palette/colormap (without even changing any other settings), check this out.

Default Quake palette:

My Idgamma-generated palette:

Pretty remarkable difference there.
Ha
it turned i used frib's idgamma all this time and forgot about that! as i tried to remove it everything became dull and not contrast so i returned it back :)

Those of you who dont have mobiles prolly spend all time at home and socialize entirely via inet...
sorry for ya pals

and yeah, phone ringing and loud talking (of any kind actually) in public places is annoying
Von
Just remember it when playing kjsp1 or Nehahra invein when all the nice bright texes are saturated ...

Idgamma is invaluable in most other maps. I even had to create custom pak variants when using some paks with modified palette, e.g. vile or lomgoat
W00t!
The colours..they aren't ugly!!!
Idgamma
I have found version 2.0 but get a 'path not found' error even though the path is correct.

Any known issues with WinXP?
I Vaguely
recall problems running idgamma under NT/2K/XP. There's a v2.1 that maybe helps but I think there were still some issues. Run in full screen and backup your id1 game paks beforehand, it might replace one at will.
New Sauerbraten (.org) Release
Mobile Phones
I used to hate mobile phones, had the same old one for years, barey functioning and barely using it for anything.

Recently I was (almost) forced to buy a new one (NOKIA 6020), and hey...I'm starting to like it better. Trying to avoid talking loudly in public places etc., it's just there for sending SMS mostly. And it has a nice colour display with easy to grasp menus, and the battery in it actually stays up for days :)
Mike
just use frib's generated pak file, it works well in most cases.
French Rap Is Better Than They Say.
Seriously.
Nitin
Thanks, you're right.
Quake PSP
I don't know if this has already been posted, but here goes.

http://home.comcast.net/~shernandez1337/
Play Quake on your PSP!

I haven't tried it yet, but it should be cool to play Quake on the go - especially if we can play our own levels! :)

There are also emulators for the psp now, so if the thought of playing ps2 ports for 30 isn't your idea of fun, you can grab a copy of snes9x and play mario world :)
Quake Mobile Again
http://www.gamecloud.com/article.php?article_id=558

If you thought you won't be able to play your mods and such on this version of Quake, think again. The article also mentions some other interesting stuff (ie this version of Quake will be OpenGL on new, upcoming phone hardware - some of the phones will even have analog controllers..)
Frib/aguire
thanks, I thought the same but wondered whther I might have missed some command in the new ftiz version.
London People
Hope those of you from over there and your families, freinds, etc are all safe.
QUake Maps Site
What was that one site, it was orange and I believe it had a .RU domain, and "quake" in the domain, and had tons of Quake maps?
