Von: ta, but torrent is blocked here. Any chance you could do me a secret upload location and send a link to andrew.palmer@rebellion.co.uk by Friday? ;) No problem if you can't.
Phait: I'll have another look.

Objective Reporting At Its Finest By The BBC

The explicit nature of the scene was unsettling and bordering on the tasteless.
Thanks for the judgement call, mate.
"Hey guys I went to check out this first person shooter and you'll never believe this...but it was excessively violent. I am shocked and appalled."
Violence

but with new technology the violance becomes all the more graphical and realistic. I don't like the trend.
Violence
#7826 posted by Shambler on 2005/05/26 06:35:45
My view is that it's value is proportional to how well it fits into both the style and gameplay of the game. D3's violence was appropriate because of the demonic horror nature. Painkiller's violence was appropriate because of the OTT nature of the gameplay. Other games perhaps less so...
Quake4 can justify some violence in terms of processing humans and of course the natural "shooting things" violence of an FPS. But it shouldn't be based around that. Of course a report such as the one quoted means shit really.

Sauerbraten and fitzquake 0.80 are both stellar releases. I'm having a great time, and I wanted to thank you two for that. Excellent work.

I wrote something about that on my website. Basically it was no longer fun for me, and it wastes way too much time. scampie kickbanned me last time I popped in to see how everyone was doing, and quite frankly I haven't had the desire to see if I've been unbanned.
#7831 posted by - on 2005/05/26 17:06:59
I kickbanned you because you were being a drunk idiot.
#7832 posted by R.P.G. on 2005/05/26 18:21:48
Considering that at that point I was neither drunk nor acting differently from anyone else, that's a pretty poor excuse.

Impressive concept, although the implemention looks kinda glitchy and ugly from those screenshots.

pope: I honestly don't remember having any "differences" with you. If I argued with you, I was probably wrong.
inertia: While your feedback was very useful and much appreciated, you had one of the worst attitudes of any tester I have ever had.

rpg: because I was stubborn about what you needed to change? I feel that your map plays significantly better with my suggestions, many of which you were loathe to implement intially

Yes. And you were still being a bigot about it even after release.
I feel that your map plays significantly better with my suggestions, many of which you were loathe to implement intially
Absolutely 100% correct.
