either that madden shot is a cutscene or the graphics are incredible. I'm guessing its a cutscene. The shot of the car looks very boring and weak though.

Good way to put me off having any interest in consoles by showing a sports game and a RL driving game.
Only two games that have shown any interest on consoles that haven't got to PC are Crimson Skies and Mech Assault.
Thoughts On Next-gen

Both shots look EXTREMELY unexciting, although I think that has more to do with the imaginations of EA's marketting department than the power of the next generation of systems.
I am a bit worried about the next generation, because I think with all that power under the hood, the cost of producing a game to utilise it is going to be enormous. Publishers are only going to want to spend the big bucks on identical minimal risk game "franchises" and new ideas are going to get brushed aside for being too risky and unlikely to produce high volume sales.
I think most of the games you see from now on are going to be made for chavs.
Well, hopefully there will still be a few developers capable of independant thought, who produce good (or at least interesting or challenging) games, rather than churning out UTTER FESTERING HORSE SHIT for your average brainless tosser to play whilst they listen to NOW ## wait for the next issue of "Fast Cars and Big Tits" to come out.
I'm sure the number of intelligent people that buy games means that there is a market out there for all the developers with interesting ideas, talent and passion for games. Lets hope that there are publishers that want to take advantage of that market.
I guess it won't be so bad - we'll just have to spend longer walking past all the EA billboards and statuettes filling the front of our local gamestores to find the good stuff (or just avoid the stores and buy online.)
My Turn!

The only thing at all exciting about new consoles to me is the thought of what the ps3 version of GTA will be like. And even then I will probably wait for the pc version.

Please bring me a shiny new next-gen console system so that I may also contribute to the growing uniformity and lack of creativity in console games just like my skinhead neighbor does...oh, and a lifetime subscription to "Fast Cars and Big Tits" too ;p

Well, I always called them 'casuals' or 'schemies', neither of which is anywhere near as insulting as the things they call me. And it isn't a matter of social class, it's a matter of social conduct.

A Question For Quake Players....
#6406 posted by Jago on 2004/12/14 12:01:33
As my current Q1SP project (some of you might have played apinaraivo.bsp in it's various states or seen the screenshots here) is progressing towards completion, I've been thinking about expanding it into a bigger project, consisting of a startmap, 3 singleplayer maps and perhaps and endmap. So now the question I have for you is: Would you rather see something good (a finished apinaraivo.bsp) in a 1-2 month timeframe or would you rather see something even better, which would however take AT LEAST another 6 months to develop?
#6407 posted by . on 2004/12/14 12:03:33
Both. Just work on the map, release when it's done, and work on the rest, release entirety when it's done.

50:1, more like.
Jago: The map itself looks good so far, but it doesn't look very big at all imo. I would say you should finish the map itself, then release a pack, maybe with monkey rage in it, related to the released map. But that's my opinion. There's a shortage of maps around so far, so a quality map would be nice.

Yes, I know how a long-coming map release feels very well. You are all full of pheromones for all 15 minutes until someone actually downloads your map and points out some bloody obvious texture misalignment, bad shadow, missing item, etc, etc ;) The unfortunate truth is that you can continue to perfect a map for an unlimited amount of time, but yet it will never be perfect.
