Could Someone Help Me
#5909 posted by ProdigyXL on 2004/10/25 08:18:54
I had planned on repurchasing Quake 1 so I could take the screenshots of XL1DM7 for my art class. However money wise its just not in the cards right now. I was hoping however someone here with that map could take 6-7 high res screenshots of that map in particular for me. I'm looking for 1200*1600 or whatever the highest resolution supported by your system. If someone would be nice enough to do that they can get at me in #tf or e-mail me at timmi1gm@cmich.edu I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
YOU GAVE AWAY QUAKE??

Are you kidding, I lost my disc years ago. It was the first PC game I bought. I actually bought the game, and the Deathmatch Manifesto before I even received the computer to run it on. Which was a Pent2 266, with 64 megs of ram, and a S3 Virge! Then I got my Pure3D II and was all set.
Regardless if someone could do that sometime that would extra super cool.

I downloaded my copy off of Kazaa. No viruses or anything (from the downloaded Quake. THere were tons of shit on Kazaa.) I had it before, but I don't know which zip disk it's on now.

You can build it from scratch using the demo version as a basis.

well it's not like you're going to use the executables that came with the game anyway. You're either going to download winquake or glquake, or one of the custom engines.
Yeah,

what is missing from the demo version?
Vore model, spawn
and Hell Knight, right?
Any differences in the Progs.dat?

I meant what is necessary to the extent that it would take to set up a functioning version for a player that doesn't have Quake.
I did discover something alarming though. Over the years I have taken Quake apart and set out the models and maps and everything else into folders to be read from that I no longer even have pak1.pak on my harddrive. No wonder I have to import the music now from engines that read obb vorbis and mp3 files.

It's the original levels that are copyrighted now. I bought mine directly from id in 1996. Memorial day weekend made me wait till the following tuesday to get it. Man was I itchy to play it too. I still have the original cardboard CD holder and all.
I wonder what it will get on e-bay in 20 years...

Empty Titles Don't Like Me

While I admit to having warezed the vast majority of the games I've played, some games simply MUST be owned legally and Quake is one of them. I had originally purchased a pirate Quake CD in Russia for like 1$, but in 2001 I purchased an official boxed set from Activision containing Quake and both Mission Packs. The artwork on the box is absolutely kickass.

Necros, probly cause your isp doesn't own enough ips for all the people on their network, they don't expect everyone to be online at once anyway, so they have it set to reset your ip more often so ppl. who aren't online don't waste an ip.
It's one of those annoying policies/business models that hasn't been changed since 56k was hi-tech.

NAT is. Users of certain ISPs here have severe difficulties connection to (for example) IRC servers, because they all seem to originate from ONE external IP address. Evil.
