Even though the DOOM 3 SDK is still missing in action, the DOOM3[CC] guys are gearing up to release the first version of their mod which will offer full text transcription of every piece of audio in the game for deaf / hearing impared gamers.
Which is a nice change after the 57th "omg cs with like 50 weapons and stuff" mod.

Let's all welcome our newest addition to the Moderation team here at Func_Qmap, nitin!
Nitin was a mod at Qmap oh so long ago, and was always the one posting all the newest maps released, many of which from non-Quake games. I'm glad to have him here to help add to our diversity.
Congrats Nitin

This is a good news... It's better to have 2 moderators than "one and a half": the "half" is Scampie who will be for sure very busy when he will start his new job, and will not be able to spend time with us as he do now... So, congratulations nitin...
Yay Nitin

Mario Bros. 2 + Mario Stuff
#5809 posted by than on 2004/10/12 18:40:34
Wasn't the Japanese Mario 2 just "Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels," which was included in the SNES All-Stars pack? Or was it something else? I still have my All-Stars cart at home, but I don't have the NES rom for Mario Bros 2 Japanese version. The western release of Mario Bros 2 was wank, though some people like it.
Speaking of Mario, I have Mario Sunshine for the GameCube, and have got something like 60 shines. Unfortunately, I have discovered that to finish the game I must complete seven levels from each area. This pisses me off, because almost every single one of the levels I am stuck on is a "secret of BLAH" level. These levels are fucking shit. Maybe thanks to the controls being a little twitchy at times, the camera, or my cack-handedness. Anyone else have the same prob with this game?
Super Mario World may not have had fancy 3d graphics and shit, but at least I managed to finish 93 or so of the 96 or so levels (and defeat Bowser in the process.) It was one of the Star Road ones I couldn't do for some reason. It was a forest trail with lots of caterpillars and fire things in it. Dunno how I managed to do the one before it though... that was ROCK :)
Congrats Nitin!

Lost Levels is indeed the Japanese SMB2. It was a quick hack of a sequel with no two player, floating bloopers, and god damn posionous mushrooms wish piss me off. It was also stupid hard. SMB2 USA was a quick sprite hack of Doki Doki Panic, which actually had pow blocks and starman already for some reason.
The Mario Bros are interesting mascots because they're almost entirely defined by circumstance. Hats because hair is hard, mustaces to see the nose, overalls to see the arms, named and ethnicised for a landlord, and Mario is shorter than Luigi because of Doki Doki Panic.
Aye
#5813 posted by Zwiffle on 2004/10/12 22:48:50
pushpoker is right. They did the Doki Doki hack because the Japanese thought SMB2 was too hard for westerners, and no one cared about the DOki Doki characters at all, but the demand for a sequel was too high. ergo, we got screwed.
My guess is you saw the same Icons, push?

i really did, Devi can atest to my victory! then it rewards you with MORE lost levels... on which the SNES cart i was playing it on... decide it would lose all the saved games.. :(
yes it's stupid hard, I found the best way to beat all the levels was to go at a dead run and hop/jump everytime you land... they were meant for japanese speed running freaks
