Proto-Quake

I'd heard a lot about the early concepts of Quake years ago ( I thought I'd heard it from you guys :/ ) The deal with the warhammer as the player's primary weapon was that it would grow larger through the game as it was used to kill more enemies. Freudians would have a field day with the id boys :P The name Quake was also going to be the player-character's name. Bleh. Bleh, I say.
I've got to take a look at this Q-Test pack.

'Does anyone play IGI 2?'
I can't speak for anyone else, but there are a limited number of acronyms I am capable of keeping up with at any given time.

Heh, sorry, but that's pretty much the title... "International Geotactical Intelligence" - sequel to "I'm Going In (This Sucky Game)". It's quite an improvement I think. Anyway I've been playing it, it can be challenging. I've been wanting to play MP too but I heard it's just like counterstrike - which actually, I've never played.

"Our records show that you have exceeded the allowed number of activiations..........bla, bla, bla"
click the next button,
"enter the following 3,000,000 digit number to get a new activation code"
After entering the 3,000,000 digit number....
"We are sorry, but that copy of windows XP Pro is installed on another computer, please ring..................bla, bla bla"
No shit lady, it's installed on my damn computer. Ring the microsoft number.....
"if you want...press 1; if you want....press 2... and on, and on....."
Press the required number,
"Sorry, we are having difficulties, and are unable to generate another activation code for you, try again in an hour"
Hour later, yeah, I get my new number, I'm activated again. But when ever I reformat, or reinstall, or Upgrade certain components from now on, I've got to go through that shit again, every freakin time !! That sux. I bought the product, I should be able to install/uninstall the damn thing as much as I want. Fair enough they have to try to stop piracy I guess, but freakin hell, limiting the amount of times you can activate, and therefore install sux big time.
Sorry................

no, it's a feature. Tigger-On lookied into it and posted this on his site :
Fileplanet login problems - Had a number of people say they are having problems with the login for Fileplanet. If you are one of them, here is the fix. Goto this page first and login, then come back here and click on the download links. You will then be presented with a page that looks like you are not logged in, however, all you need to do is click on the text that says Not logged in? Don't have a GameSpy ID? - you will then be presented with the download page.
CD-ROM Question

I have windows XP. Does anyone know how I can tell which IDE channel my CD-ROM is on?
Hm...
#4505 posted by necros on 2004/06/19 11:39:12
well, it shouldn't be too hard.
look in the motherboard's litterature and find the page where it outlines all the important pieces.
it may even be marked on your motherboard, near the connectors. for example, mine has "IDE1" and "IDE2" printed right beside each one.
Append:

most likely it's on IDE2 or Secondary Channel because most people always place HDDs on the primary ide channel, and you're not supposed to place cdroms and hdds on the same channel.

Start your system up fresh, hit the delete button when the letters start rolling -- this will take you to the Built In Operating System depending on the design for your system you should have a fairly easy to read layout of your hardware connection and the ability to change them.

<Shallow> 118.8*89.1
<Shallow> I think, that's from memory though so it might be bollocks
<RPG> I was about to ask if he wanted it in whole or decimal form.
<Shallow> I'm disturbed to think that space is being taken up in my brain remembering things like paper sizes and font names :)
<RPG> Shallow: oh what? I thought we were talking about pingu's map "A2"
The sad part is that I was serious. :(

Btw, what do the units in Quake correspond to? Is it 32 pixels = 1 metre or something?
Uhm, Given The Differences In Pixelation
#4512 posted by HeadThump on 2004/06/19 20:50:45
Caused by the different resolution settings, and monitor sizes, I don't think pixels would make for a very effecient means for measuring.
Don't forget, those Id boys are from Texas; throwing around the word 'metre' will get you looked at funny with scolding mutterings of 'Jacobinite!' heard in near proximity.
Actually, They Do.
#4513 posted by necros on 2004/06/19 23:22:32
1 unit or pixel worth of length in quake is always the same.
i think kinn meant unit rather than actual display pixels.
anyway, i think it's about 40 units = 1 meter, because the player is about 48-56 units. and most normal people are about 160 or so cm.
Yes, I Meant Unit
