Now is your chance to shine in the mighty embers of a flamewar.
Though I agree with your opponents that Romero gets way to much gratudious criticism and he is probably no where near being the douchebag the media makes him out to be.
 Hmm

Oh yes, the inability to access/trust information for an entire day really makes my life better/amuses me/serves any kind of vaguely useful purpose.
 Hmm

It's not really a flame war. I just hate April Fools with a burning passion. My disgust at the renewal of the old "DKT suck! huh huh huh" line is just a side thing :)
Oh, UWF, I Didn't Mean You Were Nothingness Itself

I was saying nonentity's anger turned from a sharply focused bitch slapping and then, well, he lost focus and he started punching drunk at April's Fools Day, or something about the relevance of time frame and how we should be sensitive to the fact some kid in Botswana might not find April Fool's relevant to his particular condition, or something like that. I don't fucking know but it was an ugly last round.
 Hmm
#3975 posted by nonentity on 2004/04/01 22:51:31
It's not about relevance (or lack of). It's about stupidity and pointlessness.
Hey, I Hated April Fools Day

When I was a kid. They would do things like replace my M&Ms with Skittles. Instead of the warm, loving, I would even say, womb-like taste of chacolate, I would instead be assaulted by the burning sensation of citrus flavors sputtering like a bukake rainfall upon my tounge. Such impressions can burn in you soul forever. Come to think of it, I hate April Fools too.

Grindspire: thanks for reminding me what a whiney little angstbitch you are.

HeadThump; It's not the pranks I mind, they're just silliness, it's April Fools on the net I object to.
scampie; How could you forgot? I'm obviously not whining enough these days :p

I Won A Copy Of Masters Of Doom From GameSpy! Yes!

Great book. I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the bit about how they played Carmack's elaborate version of D&D and Romero rolled the dice to become the most powerful or make the universe collapse in on itself, and the D&D universe collapsed =)
I will never speak a bad word about Gamespy because they gave me a free book with no hassle!

Have you managed to get a hold of Doom yet? Let me know, I can help you out there. I will be down for a day or 2, while I format and reinstall everything.

For those who are interested
1on1 Map Pack
http://www.1on1pack.com/
Some nice maps(visual and play wise) in this pack, Including an awsome rebuild for UT2004 of Alpu2. All in all well worth the D/L
DM-Aristocracy2004
http://nalicity.beyondunreal.com/map_hub.php?mid=7029
No changes here, just updated for UT2004, eventhough the 2003 version worked without problems in UT2003. Well, atleast it did for me
SemiOfficial ONS Map Pack
http://games.bigpond.com/pc/resources/files/details/html/11070
http://rens2sea.com/download.php?view.33
This was released by Gamestop/Microsoft, as part of the"XP Extra's" program, and was unfortunately (for those without WinXP) only able to install on a machine which was running WinXP. Although it didn't take long for the maps to be distributed in Zip/RAR format by the community. ONS-Ascendancy mmmmmmm
Community Bonus Pack (1@2)
http://www.planetunreal.com/cbp/
Nothing to download yet, except if you haven't as yet got CBP1 for UT2003, but news that CBP1 is being converted for UT2004, and also news, and screenshots of CBP2 for UT2004. Some nice looking maps in CBP2, I'm sure there will be some nice stuff in there.

I've tried all the standard methods of getting it to run under XP (compatability tab) on my laptop.
I have a win 98 machine as well so I really did not try too hard though. (How many times will I have a sudden urge to model on the road after all)?

you get one thinking "this is great, I'll be able to get alot of work done on the train, and I can work on the novel while drinking coffee and scotch down at the cafe." but in reality, where most people live, you end up using it as a luggable mp3player and surfing porn in bed.
I'm still lusting after an ibook though, on general principle.
