a good P2P music sharing program?

Mainly looking for something with a decent size base (Kazaa was good in this aspect but sucked in other features) and speed. 

Direct Connect, http://www.neo-modus.com/ (although somepeople feel http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net/ provides a better client),althogh you'll a decent size collection to be allowed on a lot of the hubs.

EMule, http://www.emule-project.net/ , is good too, as is BitTorrent, http://bt.degreez.net/ , with http://www.suprnova.org/ being a good place to start looking for Torrents (more films than music though). 

Check out Blubster if your looking for music only. Its like a modern day Napster. No ads, no extra spyware, just fast relaible downloads. Check it out, google it.

Find pretty much everything I want on it (if it's been released), and has a slick interface. Only problem with it is that it's server uptime isn't that reliable (downloads won't pause if the server goes down, you just won't be able to do more searches until it goes back up) ... problems are normally solved quickly though. 

Soulseek is has a lot of good people on it, but the queues are often long. I've seen queues over a thousand. WinMX is another good choice for audiophiles. The selection is a little less but the queues are much shorter. So I recommend both. You'll need NapMX to go with WinMX for a list of rogue servers. 

It's heavily into the adware. Even if you run adaware afterwards you'll be encouraging them by downloading it. 

Its fine for me, I ran AdAware afterwards and its fine. You don't have anything to worry about.

IK's download for ikbase isn't working, and neither are any of the other downloads I've found, and I need that set. Anyone got a working download for it?

Does bit-torrent have ads or install other programs? 

BitTorrent doesn't. It's about the most minimal p2p around :)

And I considered recommending SoulSeek, but I just find it too unreliable these days. As I say, DC is by far the best, but I am presuming you have 30Gb+ of video/mp3s to share :) 

For those that are interrested, this months (uk) pczone has a new demo of painkiller on it containing a new "Venice" themed level (which is very very very cool!).

Search around on the net if your not in in uk, its bound to have made its way online somewhere...

unfortunately, you have to sift through the muck to put it to any use. I'm thinking that the guy who lost his 's' key and just went ahead and used 'z' instead should think very long, and very hard, about what he started.
