Jimbo - Re Network
Goes like this:
Only one end of the Long Cable Under the House is T568B. The other's wired like a normal Ethernet cable, with an RJ45 plug, and plugged directly into the router.
All cables are the same type.
But it sounds like we prolly need another T568B down this end too... oh well, at least they're not expensive.
(We don't even have easy access to a crimping tool - we used a nail punch - gingerly!)

They are pretty accomadating. I use to post their all the time on a plethoria of topics before my humble little machinima production crew broke up last summer.
I'm surprised there are few msgboarders in this forum who post their given one of their major topic areas concern speed run recammers like Anthony of Dead on Que.
In fact, I assumed you were attempting to demo record a console based game, and even if I'm wrong about that in my humble opinion, your topic is related.

The end that is RJ45
look at the wires,
if they are (pin side up, left to right)
1 white/orange
2 orange
3 white/green
4 blue
5 white/blue
6 green
7 white/brown
8 brown
that is T568B
If they start with white/green that is T568A.
When you say router doesn't see the PC, do you
mean that the link lights don't turn on on the
NIC and on the router? or the lights come on
but you can't ping/browse the internet?
Ouch a nail & punch, I hope you don't have to
put very many ends on.

I reread your original posting, and I guess you may be simply attempting to get the game cube to work with your monitor because you would prefer to play the cube using a pc monitor. The basic question behind this is if there is a convenient means of using a card to convert the tv signal to one the monitor would read natively. I tell you what, my brother is an engineer formerly with AGFA and now with Barco graphics who does this sort of thing for a living. I'll forward your question.

HeadThump: heh thanks. I think I was basically just looking for advice on what TV card would give the best quality. ;)
Ohhh Jiiiimmmbo
T568B: Yup, that's how all the naughty plugs are wired.
Alas! No light on yonder router breaks (but I'll check again late tonight, when I am told the sun will go down and I can actually see the damn things.) I haven't examined the Front computer's rear end though - and yes, I ditched all the drivers and had 98 reinstall 'em.
(And as for using a punch, well, five out of nine ain't bad, right?)

It can not easily be described, as it is simply an improved Quake
Mmmmmm hmmmmm. Sorry, I really don't like the look of those shots. That might be a technical improvement but I don't see it as an aesthetic improvement.

All those shots look sad.
Iikka's maps look much more better in winquake/fitzquake than in this mutated shite.
Leave classic levels alone and make new maps for these engines, considering nu tech.

Hmm Those DarkPlaces Shots

really don't do justice to the engine, its a lot less 'mutated shite' than it appears there... fits in rather well with the Quake aesthetic too (very gritty and dark).
It's a shame there isnt a version without the optional bloated features (technically amazing but not neccessary for standard quake maps). I'm not sure it slows it down at all but its a psychological thing for me i think :)

you really think shots 5 and 8 of ikka's maps look that bad? The others dont look great because there's all that extra new weapon flash etc crap but IMHO shots 5 & 8 look pretty cool.

<Shambler> this evening has reaffirmed my hatred of: mappers, non-mappers, gamers, americans, so-called community members, anyone with english as their first language, anyone from scandinavia, anyone who's ever liked quake, and #tf in general
I would just like to say that I am not from Scandinavia. I am sure everyone is aware of this. Thank you, and good day.

yeah anyone remember MPQ? This has nothing to do with MPQ.
well, since I'm a literature major (probably) and for other reasons as well, I decided I wanted to make a list of all the books I'd ever read, including bibliographical information (handy when you can just copy and paste it, instead of annoyingly having to type it out manually every time you use a book as a source), some quotations from it, a general review etc, and some information about genre and rating. So I started writing it. Then I realized it would be WAY better, especially since if I kept updating it it would probably get unmanagably huge, to have it in html with a series of sorting options much like they had at MPQ (RIP).
So, a couple questions:
a) does anyone have any idea at all what I'm trying to talk about here?
b) how much work is involved?
c) is anyone capable of doing it for me?
d) does anyone want to do it?
e) is shambler gay? I think we all know the answer to that one
the last was purely there for entertainment value. I now await the barrage of insults and mockeries of my personality, maps, and site that will undoubtedly follow this post swiftly heh.
I Think...

that there's some software that can look up barcodes and tell you the book's info. You obviously need a barcode reader (maybe a cuecat,) the software, and some database for the software to connect to (maybe it's online?)
Just an idea.

I'd like to answer e), but we had a long talk the morning after, and came to realise it was the booze running the show. Also, a tiny bit of, healthy and very normal, curiousity.
So, no comments, really.
