There's another map that i was supposed to release last week, but didn't finish on time:

following the parody theme.
(guess scampie forgot ;) )

Yeah go Xen. 5 hours worth it for 10 minutes of play!
Demos For All!

available in both flavours!
http://www.planetquake.com/necros/temp/sm67_demos.zip (6.1MB)
http://www.planetquake.com/necros/temp/sm67_demos.dz (2.3MB)
note that i cheated on some maps. (some are obviously not beatable without them...)
and, xen! that map was awesome! i suspect you went over the timelimit slightly, but that was an awesome map! with some tweaks to gameplay (notably: more health!) and a bit more detail, this map could be really cool!

Nice solid looking layout, and tough as hell to beat. Mine should be beatable by strafing in the first area and encouraging infights.

I liked necros' map best. Maybe you should run a 'max brush count + no clone tool' theme.
Good Pack

Well done all - good set of maps.
sm67_headthump : HeadThump's first speedmap, so very good effort. MORE ammo next time please, I had to kill at least 25% of those monsters with my axe hehe :)
sm67_jacek & sm67_jacek2 : Good set of maps considering you haven't speedmapped before. Textures in the first map were a bit of an odd mix. Playable map though, and when I saw the 3 e1m7 bosses, I thought HELP! You were saying in the speed mapping thread could somebody kill all the monsters in you second level. I think not, as you haven't put in a weapon to kill the zombies.
sm67_zwiffle & sm67_zwiffle2 : Enjoyed these evil, evil maps. I tried to finish the second map without the RL you get from the first, and there is juuuust enough ammo. Hell of a challenge.
sm67_xen : Excellent map. With less repetition, and more detail it could be a full release.
I blew my entry this week. I started a lava map a bit like zwiffle's, but released I didn't have a clue about terran brushs. Second ettempt was quite a nice looking hanger, but the gameplay was shot. Me thinks I'll do it in advance next week :)

Cool map necros. Very enjoyable CS conversion.
Btw, all those speedmap maps are beatable without cheats.

zwiffle's 2nd map is beatable without cheats, but i didn't have the patience to take on all the ogres with only the double shotty.
i also think zwiffle's first map is plenty beatable. if i hadn't lost health by getting hurt by my own rocket explosions, i would probably have been able to take on the last vore in close quarters, or run past it towards the exit.
headthumps map i was unable to beat regularily. had to resort to a trick jump to get past the bars to the exit.... dunno what that was all about... and yeah, more ammo. :)
jacek's maps were ok, but not very pretty... gameplay was ok, but facing 3 chthons was retarded and i immediatly put on godmode and noclip.
Aiee :S

There were supposed to be two more megahealths in my map but for some reason they wouldn't display! Even putting them well away from surrounding surfaces. You just have to be cautious when playing.. get some infighting going & whatnot. Thanks to those who liked it anyway :-)
Am checking necros's map & demos now

Necros' demo was pretty instructive feed back for me. I should have put a message at the switch and a sound at the door to let you know it is opening. The door is timed, so if you don't see it, you may not even suspect what is going on. Also, the lst test run I gave it, about a third of the monsters murdered one another, so I was under the impression the ammo was adequate.

http://isoterra.artists.mpfspromotions.com/xen67x.zip - my map without cheats.. took longer than necros's though
http://isoterra.artists.mpfspromotions.com/xen67z.zip - zwiffle's first map, killing everything without losing a single HP :D
I'd like to see demos of someone completing jacek's 2nd map without cheats ;-)

'Last Night in Paris Was Strange' He he. Couldn't resist. My nom du online is a deriviation from a QueensRyche tune (since MindCrime is already taken). But I love Vore fights like that.
'I'd like to see demos of someone completing jacek's 2nd map without cheats ;-)' I don't think that is likely to happen. The three boss demons raising up like that was a crapinyourpantsspactacular moment. I noticed Jacek's maps used some really colorful (esp for Quake) textures.

best of the bunch, eerie lighting and great gameplay. Nice trick with the pentagram, although I first decided to go for the Shamblers without it and when I came back the penta was gone ... Who stole my power-up?
Xen's was repetitive and really short on health in the middle and thus very hard, but still a good challenge if you're up to it. Damn those Ogres above ...
HeadThump's had lighting problems and annoying gameplay, especially the end part. I also didn't know what to do so I GJ into the caged area and then suddenly I stumbled into an exit. The beginning was good though, always nice to wake up next to a DBS and a Fiend. Reminds me of the old mexx map where you take on 3-4 angry Fiends immediately ...
Zwiffle's 1st looked nice but was too dark. Gameplay was OK but repetitive; spin around until all the Vores were down. This map threw me into his 2nd and I thought it was a mistake having the RL, so I restarted just to find out that I really would need the RL anyway. And a quad. And then some ... Bad gameplay here and leaky, too. Not too bad looks, though.
Jacek's both maps were hoard massacres in badly textured boxes. But both followed the theme accurately ...
How about the theme Quality over Quantity?
Thanks For The Comments, AquiRe

except for shadowed area that hid the nail gun, I thought the lighting sucked too. If you decompiled it, you'll notice I took out a lot of _null points that just weren't doing it for me. I have a question for you, but it is of a technical nature, so I'm gonna put it over in the map help area. The next map for next week, I'm planning everything well in advanced before I even touch a brush.

Well done everyone. These maps were quite entertaining. The 3 chthons room was a little tricky to survive, I'll admit. :-)

it's like turning on the radio to a pop station when you hate pop.
