I noticed that a few months ago. Hopefully when Peej gets back on his feet he'll be able to resurrect it.
Also, the would have worked if you had typed it like this: ( http://www.qmap.org )
And, I haven't noticed any slowdowns with this site in particular, but it seems like I've been having trouble with sites in general. Perhaps it is related to the influx of virii/worms that we have seen lately.
Weird...

it doesn't load slowly for me at all. Must be related to traffic in your area or something.

There are plenty of people/companies who snatch up domains as soon as they expire, and direct them to a generic ad-portal type thing. I assume Peej let the domain expire, and this is what happened.
Oh...

I guess that's not what happened at all, once i read the fine print at the bottom.
Slow Loading Func_Msgboard.............................
#1885 posted by Abyss on 2003/08/25 03:25:56
It only happens with this site, everything else is fine. Sometimes it loads fine, but more often than not, it's slow. Oh well, as long as I can still get here I guess. I'm from Awstraylya, as I think is Nitin.

does celephais.net load slowly, too?
Celephais.net
#1887 posted by Abyss on 2003/08/25 04:58:42
No, thats super fast. Since my last post (03:25:56 Board Time) this has been the first time I have been able to access Func_
Hmm,
#1888 posted by Abyss on 2003/08/25 05:06:02
Having said that, every time I have tried to access celephais.net I haven't been able to load the site at all. Same as Func_ really :(
That Should Be

It Sounds Like It
#1891 posted by R.P.G. on 2003/08/25 12:55:18
But it's quite possible that the original Quake rocket launcher sound came from a sound effects CD, in which case it's perfectly legitimate that it's used in that movie.
All this goes back to the Oh-I-was-watching-a-sci-fi-movie-and-a-door-opened-and-it-sounded-like-Doom effect that sometimes happens because the sound came from a sample CD and wasn't created from scratch.

If by "work on" you mean "rip from the CD and place directly into the game", then yes. The ogre sound effects are also used in Duke Nukem 3D for the pigcops. If I'm not mistaken, Duke3D was released before Quake; therefore, not all sound effects were original to either game.
Q1SFX
There's an interview with Reznor somewhere where he mentions that some of his original sound effects were considered too scary or something...
And yes, the pigcop's sight sound is that of the ogre, just slowed down. In rooting about in Build-based game files, I've noticed that sometimes the sound effects are grotesquely stretched...

yeah, if you open up some ofthe Q1 sounds and squash them, they sound like the sound engineer gargling into a mic
Who knows...

No I don't mind, go for it (maybe a "Taken from www.teamsmabler.com" would be appropriate).

you still having probs loading Func_ Msgboard?
It's becoming very hard for me to access the site at all. :(
Sometimes, about 1% of the time, it's as if nothings wrong, then it all goes south. Most times I don't even get enough time to read all the unread threads before it refuses to load again.
