Trinca: When you register, you get a little link behind each thread that lets you view the posts that are new since you last visited. Also there is the 'Last 25' link, that only shows the last 25 posts in the thread. Don't click on the thread title unless you actually want to see the entire thread.

Still, it would be swell if a paging function was available.
Trinca
I was doing it right like you, after I have discovered this forum :) After some days of downloading full threads to read what is at the end I found the "last 25" link :)
Eh
I honestly do admire what Metl has done as far as his own forum but I must agree - from every point - usability and being well, user considerate - no paging is pretty atrocious! That and no search - Googling the site isn't that great of an alternative either.

omg omg czg i never notest that... i must be sleeping... :| u right...
I Would Be
more than content if just the current high latency or occasional unavailability could be fixed. But I don't know how difficult that is ...
Yeah
It's fine, please just make it faster if you can, it's the only thing about func I don't like.
If It's Not Broken, Leave It The Fuck Alone
I like func's minimalism. Adding bells and whistles in the name of "usability" would effectively be just another thing getting between the user and the posts they want to type or read.

The typical PHP forum has crap people hardly ever use crammed into every spare pixel on the screen - you have links on the side of the screen, little layers of links on the top and bottom of each forum, each thread, each fucking post. Func eschews such bullshit and is much the better for it IMO.

I think a paging function would make func less readable and less useable, and that without the issue other forums face of directly linked images swamping the browser there's little or no reason to even consider it.
Func Is Fucked.
No offence to metl - he knows it, and we all know it, wherever it's hosted is fucked, it been utterly slow and unreliable for a week or more now. Loading the site and then this thread was 10 minutes each - but at least it didn't collapse with an error this time.
I Say
add paging and leave the rest of the interface alone. But goddamn MOVE IT TO FOV120 AND LET ME FIX THE DATABASE, metl =).

Seriously now.
Yea Slime
do eeeit!
:-o
func_msgboard + vodka = func_msgboard russian?
I Agree With BlackDoog
...in that the forum's simplicity that has been inherited from the qboard days is something that makes it really attractive to me.

But still, a small text link, between this reply box and the thread, would not be frowned upon. Just a little Previous 25 Next 25 thing.

...actually I agree more with Sleepy now that I think about it...
Aye, Tambien
Im fairly new to func but the first thing I thought when I arriced was "ah, simple - no useless crap all over the place! How refreshing!"
Lol
This board design rocks. When it works. (Open during non-peak hours.) phpbb sucks. Ok, old posts could be easier to search. But hardly a big problem it poses.

Login, you should possess. By definitivites. Then just follow the yellows. Open in new tabs.

No pages. No old posts. No cluttery links. Soothes eyes. Func goodness. Thanks mr Fitz "metl" Gibbons.
