It took me 20 minutes to figure out that joke, but it was worth the effort.

The fourth annual Nolans speedrunning awards are happening in #nolans and #qdq on QuakeNet in about an hour (2100 CET), if anyone is around.

 Wolfenstein Resources?
#7546 posted by than on 2005/04/05 05:40:19
Does anyone know any GOOD and preferably up to date resources for RTCW map editing? I have read Nib's, Simland and Tram Design tutorials, and that's all well and good, but I'd really like to see what the community is up to currently. I don't really have a clue as to the standard of the MP and SP maps people are making right now.
I'm just finishing off an old RTCW MP map that's being languishing on my HDD for 2 and a half years now, that's why I'm interested.

There's some RTCW MP stuff still done, but a lot of the mappers shifed to Enemy Territory - what with it being free all, it naturally meant a bigger audience. People ported their old RTCW maps to ET too. Neither ET nor RTCW has ever had a review site up to the standard of something like The Big House though so it's difficult to point at a single site. And even ET mapping seems to be tailing off a bit now as people move onto newer engines.
I'd recommend a rummage around in Splash Damage's forums.

Now the floodgates are open, I predict a lot of new shooters are going to have their own version of the "Grabber". I'll be absolutely stunned if the next iteration of the UT series doesn't jump on the grabber bandwagon as well.
 Ugh

Yes, time has been tight for me; especially in the last week. I hope to have more time after this weekend. Maybe I can work some on SM82 then.
 A Web Site?
#7558 posted by Maric on 2005/04/08 12:13:28
I put up a "website" for myself, it is about 70% Quake2 content and 30% other. It isn't much for style or design, I know little to nothing about the whole web design thing and I do not have the time or energy to learn any more. I used a very basic wysiwyg editor (thus the "iffy" results for some browsers) and got some great help with the script that opens a new window when the thumbnails are clicked (thanks sonneh).

This does not have to be news but I knew there was at least .05% interest around here for all things Q2.

actually, this is a good resource simply for your quake 2 map list. I was always frustrated that there was no place i could go to see all of your maps with screenshots.
 Omg

That must have taken a long time to setup the site with all those screenshots.
Oh, and I guess it took some time to make all the maps, too. ;)

finally there's a page for all your maps! Som eof the later ones definitely deserved to be shown off.
A suggestion though, how about displaying your latest stuff first and then moving back to you rearliest. That way you highlight the good stuff first up.
Also, I like the little comments with each map screeen.

I sent my dead hard drive off to my Dad, who assaulted it with various means of data retrieval, and there's good news. He's managed to restore almost everything on the drive and rescue all my old maps, textures, all of CF, and even LunSP1.
Happy happy joy joy. Remember kids, make regular backups.
