Talk about anything in here. If you've got something newsworthy, please submit it as news. If it seems borderline, submit it anyway and a mod will either approve it or move the post back to this thread.

Curse Of The Pharaoh

Have been searching for this map which was reviewed by Shambler back in April 99 - seems like it's nowhere to be found. I don't know the author's name though the file is named as MMC01.ZIP (yep, in capitals) weighing about 300kb's.

A quick upload would be much appreciated.

For whatever reason I couldn't find it through Google - though I also came across it at FilePlanet just after my post above.
Nevertheless, thanks for your effort Spirit. (liked the joke too ;))

It's always a good idea to check for maps at the sda. The speedrunners play lots of old maps and always offer downloads for them.

And I quote
Thanks guys, i really appreciate it.
Peter, I dont really know a normal way of making a building =\. Here's how I'm doing it. I make a big cube (representing a building), then I make a little cube of a window's dimensions, then carve it in the big cube (one unit deep). Then I make the little cube half a unit and make it sit inside the carve and finally, I slap the window texture on it. Its really a chore to do this for every single building. Thats how /why I'm using carve...Is this the right way of doing it? You said the window/door textures are in models folder. Are they also in some folder that I can use? Thanks for the help!
And Some More

Funny how history repeats itself...
1. Creating a new CS Map
I am creating a new CS map, but working on it still, with the tweaks and what not, I also made the path ways for the bots, and analyzed it all. and just finished the sky... Just wish I could get cubemaps working correctly, CS crashes when I try to run buildcubemaps. Other then that it seems close to finished, but....
One problem though, its a great map, but would people play the map is my question? As it is small, and has like only 3 to 4 rooms, and 3 ways to get there. You start out in the city spot, then go into this wierd change to like wastland, kinda like what you see in de_dust maps. I named the map cs_tga_dust just in case someone names there map that! Lol!
Anyways, I was wondering if people would play a small map, as long as it is playable and all objectives are set? Rescue the Hostages that is...
Some people just can't stop mapping...
As soon as I get somewhere to place screen shots of my map, and maps to come, I will place them here!
Btw, if no one knows me, I am TGA, I built maps for Quake2 for 5 years, and skipped a year or two of none map editing, so I am kinda rusty in level design. But anyways I am back, and making maps for CSS!
At least he's moved on?

Is that first post TGA as well? Because it makes me cry.
And, for posteriority, and while we're semi on the subject, TGA's #tf comic:

No that first one wasn't his, but it's an example of the Source forums for editing I've been trolling though. Difficult to find actual information when you have to wade through threads like that.
When I read that TGA post I thought I'd post here to have a laugh at.

all those bumped threads... ignore them. Some dickhead with an anonymizer. Perhaps this would be a good time for you all to post all those awesome mapping related discussion threads you all have to push those off the page again.

If only someone had the idea to disallow anonymous posts like a month and a half ago, this kind of thing would have stopped happening like a month and a half ago.

My first maps were for Dungeon Master, the Atari ST version, then I became an adult, stopped mapping for a while, then regressed back to childhood, and mapped for Thief, etc . . .
My First Maps
#7505 posted by inertia on 2005/03/29 22:53:47
were for a game called "The Incredible Machine 2"
Alot of you have probably heard of it, its a game where you have a number of different gadgets, and you arrange them on a screen to complete an objective, such as getting a ball to roll into a box. There were nifty anti-gravity generators, magnets, things like that. After that I moved onto making levels for Lode Runner, but unlike pushplay, my lode runner game had pretty graphics and stuff -- I think it might have been the last lode runner game released? Not sure.
Additionally, I started "mapping" with legos when I was four years old. That contined for nearly a decade :)
