I sure as hell dont know you, and I wouldn't pretend to. It's OK, Ricky. You release a bunch of quality maps and you're a twat. I release maps, write editing tools, take over shub-hub, and host a Quake download site and I'm a twat.
Evidently the only way to be cool is to contribute nothing to the community except derision and sarcasm. No, the community isn't 'collapsing' yet, but there are some pretty universal signs of an internet community in trouble, and threads like this are one.
Scampie is 'allowed' to act like a tool here because he has some veterancy. Now personally I don't remember what exactly of any use he's contributed, but that's part of the nature of e-recognition -- the screenname always outgrows the deed. As far as I or any people even newer than myself are concerned, all Scampie does is post inanities to recieve an ego boost by the simple fact that he gets away with it, and even defended when anybody questions his intentions. This reflects badly on the forum as a whole. Arguments break out. New members are intimidated or simply don't want to spend time somewhere so unpleasant. Anybody with common sense eventually finds somewhere nicer to share their common interest. Then all that's left is variations on this sort of thread, and there are no productive members left to scroll it off the page. Then anybody with the ability or interest in administrating the community gets bored and neglects it. Then terrorists take over. Then the world explodes. Then the stock markets crash. Etc. New members are intimidated or simply don't want to spend time somewhere so unpleasant.
I decided to register precisely because of all the beef around here. No, the community isn't 'collapsing' yet, but there are some pretty universal signs of an internet community in trouble, and threads like this are one.
I've been reading this board for about six years now, and have seen threads like this come and go, pretty much continually, the entire time. People here occasionally post silly shit because...well...it's silly shit and it's mildly amusing to some of us, and it doesn't really matter. Not everything posted here has to be meaningful or Contribute Something Substantial To The Community. Honest. Unless there are some rules somewhere I'm missing? Maybe I'm alone, but people who get all alarmed and offended by innocuous noise are way more distracting to me than the noise itself. There's always that guy who faints when someone cuts their finger... A rolling snowball WILL pick up more snow, it's true.
So how about you stop adding more of this literal snow to the snowball's path? We all understand already that you're offended and whatnot by this thread, there's no real need to point it out further. Also, by now you should have known that pointing out how rotten people are, won't make them less of cunts (though damn me if they're not hilarious). If you took all the energy it takes you into posting messages on the lines of "oh la la scampie is mean!!" and put them into mapping instead, I'm sure we'd see some promising results. No, that's true. But sometimes, if I really want to, I can make them go away. Like Lunaran. Every community has its arseholes and I'm sure they consider themselves to be highly amusing, but ultimately it's them, rather than the outside trolls, the ad bots or the idle members that will always ruin things simply out of boredom [i.e. the lack of enough intelligence to think of something more engaging or productive to do].

that's why i STAY registered -_- Maybe all the non-terrafusion guys could try not to take the shite too seriously. It seems to me TF users are a large part here, and naturally the humour swaps over. WHICH IS FINE GODDAMNIT. Oh, and i nominate Spirit because he's so emo about being mean >:(
