Gamespot even had a whole category to which game had the worst use of bloom in 2004. Check it out.

Yeah, I just checked it out in the DarkPlaces beta, and it was a fun novelty at first, but after about ten minutes I just wanted to take Ranger's damn glasses off and give them a good clean...
Better than the old gl_glow effect though, which I guess it obsoletes now.

Yeah big up to Fatty, done a lot of good mapping in his time right from the old skool to recent days. Lots of project shit too.
Towne will always be a classic, w3rd.

to the fat man. If you gaze at the stars for long enough, and cross your eyes, on a clear night you can see him up in heaven, directing railway traffic for the rest of time, with a laptop running quake perched on his protruding belly.
Oh Well
The fact of the matter is, as I've stated, I have several endeavours I want to chase up this year, and also I am, truly and finally, bored with Quake... or most other FPSes for that matter.
That's why I'm dragging my heels with Arcane :P
Well, that and I've finally purchased a nice Radeon 9800SE card. Morrowind never ran so well...
Actually, that's something. Should I disable the on-motherboard video in BIOS?
PS: If anyone finds the Kiwi Summer, could they please return it. We're getting waterlogged down here!

good luck living without quake! ;)
and yes, disable onboard video in bios, thus you'll save system resources like irq etc...
Hey, Fatty

It wound up here. It has been hovering around 70 degrees fahrenheit for the past two weeks. Everywhere you turn girls are wearing short-shorts and bikinni tops, and I have taken up drinking tequila sunrises. In the middle of January! I can barely stand it.
Good luck in all your endeavors you sexy bastard.

hmm yeah when I saw a friend play fable on his xbox I couldn't help wonder why they used lightbloom on EVERYTHING - they must really be in love with miss light bloom to use it the way they.
Fatty,

have you used the morrowind fps optimizer? with a fast enough video card, the program can push the view distance way beyond what morrowind normally allows. you can even push the fog back so far you can see to the edge of the cells that are loaded! ^_^ i don't know if there's a way to have more cells loaded at the same time though, so you can't see vivec city from the top of dagoth ur's mountain. :P
Hmmm
I'll have to try it again... last time I used it was with the onboard S3 crap. Fact is, I can already see further than ever.
Incidentally, State Highway One is down to one lane and two-hour delays for the second time in as many days. If the state of the capital city's main roads doesn't become an election football^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hissue, I'm a bowl of sentient, albeit rotting, fruit...

Knowing the ways Trent Reznor does work, we should all be happily listening to his Doom 3 tracks in the year 2009.
<--- Sliding

Hello, this is probably an age-old question, does anyone know how to get around the sliding-forward bug in Quake (after stopping, the player keeps sliding forward for a bit like the fucker is on skates)? Is there are command to control this? Thanks.
Uh...
#6709 posted by necros on 2005/01/08 17:57:11
that's not a bug, that's the way the engine is configured...
you can change sv_friction from 4 to 10 or so, which stops the player from sliding faster...
Yeah
#6710 posted by Kinn on 2005/01/08 18:28:48
That's almost as annoying as the bug where if you run off the end of a ledge, you start accelerating towards the ground below. I'm surprised no-one's fixed this really.
/end sarcasm
Hmm

I liked the bloom in Fable.
Yes it was over the top, but it worked for me in a 'oooh, this is a pretty, magical fantasy world' way.
Shame that the game was too short (and even then started to get a bit too repeative/easy towards the end)
