Not sure if anything can ever top True Detective season 1 for me.
I hope so but yeah, TD2 was OK in itself.

I kind of agree yeah - the show is a bit too subtle to stretch out to one episode a week. You forget all the little hints.

Ash vs Evil dead was the bomb :D
Couple less known movies that were a pleasant surprise recently :
Almost Mercy
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3480446/
Was some nice light fun, good old murderous teenage angst memories :D
Rhymes for Young Ghouls
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2385195/
Visually the reservation had a nice vibe to it, bit muddled at times but nice.
Would say both the aforementioned movies has an amateur feel but they are enjoyable nonetheless

The Last Panthers
Promising start but the "my, are we british" people annoyed me to no end. Didn't find the woman character convincing and didn't like her expressions. :( Otherwise pretty good. Could have had less plots for its own good.
Make sure you grab proper subtitles, not autotranslated garbage.

The Lobster
Saw the trailer once and then waited for the movie. The movie was very weird. Someone impressive but too surreal (and inconsistent at that) for me. Still very memorable and a good conversation unless your date was completely weirded out. Nice forest pictures and sexy gurls. Lots of british comedy folk.
The Big Short
Didn't know what to expect at all, turns out a quasi biopic about people in the housing crash. Really enjoyed it. Great role for Steve Carell.

The Babadook - 2014

Has anyone seen this movie?
Supposedly it is excellent horror movie but I am bothered by the fact it is an unknown film that grossed only $6m +/-.
Sometimes the reviews of these kind of films are skewed by the small audience sample size.

I Already Forgot The Plot
can only remember that after watching it I thought that coolest part of this movie was kids rhyme in creepy voice.

Yeah

Wife picked it out a few weeks ago, it was pretty good. It's not gonna scare the shit out of you (at this point, will any movie?)
The babadook had some tense parts and some aspects that were interesting. The portrayal of a recently widowed woman caring for her son who seems to have slight autism or adhd was believable and engaging. I was raised by a single mother and the character in the movie seemed real/relateable in many ways. The director, Jennifer Kent, did a good job IMO, especially for a first film.
The cinematography was interesting, clever and effective. No awful CGI but there were a couple of instances of stock sound effects that you've heard a million times before (even in heretic and other video games).
I'd say it was worth a watch. The last horror movie I saw before that was "the conjuring" which I thought was awful.
For reference/perspective, these are some horror movies that I thought were effective: The Thing (1988-89), The Exorcist and The Ring. Oh, and Ghostbusters (those ghost dogs gave me chronic nightmares when I was 8 years old :D)

Last one I saw was Oculus, about a possessed mirror that can take control of people. Really fucking weird idea but it actually worked pretty well, it was quite a cool movie. You don't know what's real and what the mirror is making the characters see, because you only ever see from the characters perspective, not what really happened.

Here Is A Funny Scene From Scarface

There is a masked character in Scarface that gets killed in nightclub by random fire named Octavio.

Apparently, they shot an extra scene featuring Octavio, but removed it.
/If you watch the scene, it wouldn't have fit well in the movie. They did the right thing.
