3 days ago I got a phonecall from a friend of my older brother's who works in Sunnyvale, TX as a dental assistant. He went to high school with my brother and he hadn't seen him in some time, but they were great friends in HS.
My brother wasn't home so I told him he'd call him back, and that it was good to hear from him. We talked briefly since I had met him a few times, and I asked him if Sunnyvale was near Dallas. He said not really, and that it was just a small town a few miles east of Mesquite, which was the biggest city nearby. The name struck a chord, and I realized it was where id has their headquarters. So I said, "Hey have you ever heard of id software? They made Doom, Quake, etc." He said it was funny I should say that because he was at a bar the other night in Mesquite meeting a woman he met in a personal ad who was from there. Apparently he had an issue with a guy who was trying to talk to this woman at the bar, he was interested in her so he didn't wanna let it go so easy. Things eventually settled down between them, and the other guy felt bad so he wanted to buy him a drink for being a good sport. They got to talking and he told me it was "Christian from id." I thought that was pretty cool, so I asked him if they talked about Doom 3. My brother's friend isn't really into PC gaming too much, but he had played the original Doom a few times, so they talked about that a little bit. He said Christian told him that they were coming out with the latest installment of the Doom series. My brother's friend out of politeness said he would check it out when he was heading to Wal-Mart the next day to pick up some other stuff. Christian then told him, that it wasn't out yet, but would be released in "about a year, year and a half." Stunned, I said, "are you sure that's what he said, because I've been following the game a bit, and it was supposed to be out soon" He said he was almost 99 per cent sure that that's what he said. We talked for a minute or two more, and then I hung up. I had totally forgotten about it until now, and I still can't believe it, but I can't see any reason why my brother's friend would lie. =( you talked to a guy, who talked to a guy who said he was...

Taking a look at the trailers, you have an overview of the game play... and it seems to be really really good !! I've also heard that some "unofficial" demo can be found... but never I found one... The mystery remains... Car kills teen mooner

Sure I'll root for an ACC team like GT and Maryland when they are playing outside the division since divisional dominance makes the hometeam look even better, but Duke is just 28 miles away from Chapel Hill (which I guess explains the intensity of the rivalry), and Coach K is a class act to ever really boo while putting your heart into it (like say, for instance, Bobby Knight).

Daikatana ripped-ff the 17 people who bought it, maybe 5 or 6 years ago, [no-one can really remember] and was immediatley hailed as being...crap. Read this pathetically bad marketing blurb that 3 guys threw together one drunken lunchtime: "Designed by the legendary [legendary according to who, exactly?] John Romero, Daikatana is a first person perspective action, which takes the 3D shoot'em up genre into a new dimension. [the dimension of terrible and overrated garbage]. 24 huge levels [filled with green frogs] that span four time periods!!! Superior artificial intelligence [superior compared to something with the worst artifical intelligence in the world,ever], including dialogue between characters. [they wrote desparately]!!!" So!!! i am sure there are lots and lots of "D1SP" maps out there. [hehe] I am happy to start reviewing these maps at my site as a way to draw attention and thank "the talentless idiot with an ego the size of California" for providing [inflicting] on us this truly awful experience. Waring: after reviewing 2 maps i may have to stop reviewing Daikatana SP maps for reasons of "actually wanting to play a good computer game". underworldfan makes a lame attempt to blatantly copy shambler.

i seriously dont know. Besides i think Jon Romero is an asshole, so any excuse... Then... what? He fucked your sister? Killed your cat? Put babies on spikes?
or... You're an asshole. 1) DKT was actually a fairly good game if you bothered to play it rather than just going along with the general sheep view of slagging it off. Yes the first episode and the buddy AI sucked, but apart from that it was nice (not great, but good) and had some cool ideas (tip, play through the last 3/4 in coop on your own).
And Romero is arguably legendary given he designed your favourite fucking game (among others), and Quake 3 showed what happened when iD lost him as a designer. 2) April Fools is a fucking retarded excuse for a "tradition" anyway. It's even more pathetic on an international medium (ie, the net) where users local time can differ by nearly an entire day (although more likely about 18 hours). 12 hours is bad enough, 30 hours of 'jokes' just makes my eyes bleed. Now shut up and get the fuck of my internet. That should of course be;
get the fuck *off* of my internet (and I probably should have added a 'fuck' between shut and up since I'm not sure my disdain showed through clearly enough)
