I Disagreed With It.
On a lot of points I think he was grasping and straws, calling the game a game for teenagers (I was not a teen when I played it), saying that it's an accompaniment to a NIN album (and while I love NIN and the quake soundtrack I almost exclusively play with no music).
It's clear the guy loves Doom more. Much more. And his opinion of quake is skewed by that, I love both games and play them both regularly for different reasons.

the little falling damage rant was kind of out of the left field too. 5-10 hp fall damage was never an issue in any Quake game. its gameplay function is more of a sound cue for where you are, so you better tread lightly if you want to sneak by.
The fall damage makes sense in Quake and Quake 2, but I certainly agree that it should not be in Quake 3.
