Great map, really appreciated how much more challenging it was than sock's other AD maps. I liked the shambler+scrag combo ambushes. The final encounter was really excellent because it didn't take place in a confined space so it had vague boundaries making it more dynamic and unpredictable, there's also something in particular that I really liked about it... I think it may be the best final encounter sock has ever done.
I got lost after getting the skull eye key though, I really didn't think about looking down from the hilt. I was looking ahead and jumping to get to the other side of it, because I was naturally expecting an ambush upon picking up the key. I think some other players might have the same experience.

There is no portal in AD for this map. Its just a map that uses the AD mod.
It also lacks vore tits so I'm not sure youll like it very much, barnak.

Loved it from start to finish. It had everything. Good visuals, fun combat, impossible to find secrets. Sock hits another home run with this map!

At the end of the demo is when I start finding the secrets I missed, and in the end I managed to find 9 out of 10. I wasn't able to legitimately find the last altar to destroy the grendel sword but I did see the nice cinematic of it being destroyed.
Sock Maps Rule
Here are my demos:
I played on Normal but could have played on Hard. I didn't use but did find lightning guns in secrets. Also didn't use the rocket launcher. I was just having too much fun with the tripple boomstick and the nailgun.
The reason I found many of the secrets was because I didn't see at first where to find the gold key, so I went exploring. I liked the exploring though, stuff to find everywhere and feel good about it.
I really had fun at the end, backed up against the exit teleporter and NOT letting go of the fire button. I finally survived with 20-30 health and no armor.
There is no need to go over the things that were pulled of exquisitely as I couldn't do it better. Thank you very much for making this level, I had a blast playing it.
I wonder if the nordic runes on the blade read: ”Grendel's Slayer of Deities“, or anything at all. I'll be right back when I find something.
Map With Sword In Q3
This new AD map reminds me an old Quake3 map :
Well, the sword in this AD map is also called Caliburnus
. But that's a common name:
eventually I settled on the idea of the sword in the rock, Caliburnus

Maybe I'm dense but I was finding the secret runes more easily than I was finding some of the main paths! Took about 45 minutes to find the gold key and then spent another 15 trying to find the last rune without luck.
Combat encounters were good fun, and the level has beautiful geo and lighting. May have to try again on skill 2 now that I know my way around.
The clipping is immaculate!

Great map, loved it, good balance of some hectic gameplay and lots of exploration. And an exciting demonstration of how far pure Id textures can go.
Not really much else to say except that the detailed explanation in that readme page all works in reality.
As per the stream the only issue I found was the Eye-For-An-Eye key triggering the door rather than opening.
Very cool map! I liked uberinterconnectivity, though i had major fps issues in the main hall with the blade. Map was barely playable close to the top cuz of that, but i'll return there at home on better computer and find the rest of runes.

for the feedback and demo's and especially to metlslime for creating this thread. I had given up on this place due to the anon shit posting and a few negative individuals determined to make my life miserable. Its good to see the community prove me wrong about this place.
I have seen most of the demo's now and it was fun to see how everyone took to the run+gun style. (Some still love to explore) I do wish everyone gave me a hint about what client they use to record/play Quake, because some just don't work in QS.

I finally got around to playing this one! I was about halfway through my first run when a careless jump landed me in the lava all the way at the bottom. I really liked the upper area where you could walk across the hilt and the various platforming elements. I'll have to play it again to find all the runes and the last secrets. I also really appreciated how the encounters had lots of monsters and lots of weapons & powerups!

Missing Models Issue

Really enjoyed this, think it shows in the demo. Lots of derping as well. This was actually the first Quake map I've played in over a year, pretty happy with my decision.
I've got quite the treasure trove to start combing through now though - almost intimidated hahaha!

Finally i found some time to play this map. I saw the offical page showing som many things to do and to find that i wanted to play this with more attention to the details, because i knew that i would become obsessed with the search.
i had to split my playthrough in 3 parts. Here is the first one, from the begining of the map until i die next to the exit door:
Since i died so quickly in the first part, i wanted to take my time to find more ammo and health packs before trying to fight the minotaurs again. After that, i went in my epic search to find the last runes to finally destroy the sword:
In the second part i left the map without killing two enemies, so i quickloaded again just to kill them:
Hard mode, all secrets, all sub-secrets, all runes and all enemies killed \o/
That waffle is yummy AF but certain parts are brim with spoilers. You should warn the reader about them. Otherwise, it's a very interesting read about inspiration and the process of creation.
Yet Another Masterpiece From Our Lord And Master!
Wow, what a map! I adore the juggernaut maps a la Sepulcher or Swampy, but it's also nice to play a relatively smaller scale Sock map in which you can hardly get lost. It was so carefully built around that impressive central set piece that I never wondered where I was. Visuals, layout & combat are all top notch, and the quads in plain sight are a nice touch - nothing more irritating than finding a quad hiding in a secret once you've butchered everything that breathes. Skill 2 difficulty was spot-on: it was challenging but still very much manageable - as a matter of fact I didn't die once. Oh, and I enjoyed the book with the quad poem inspired by Lord of the Rings.
I do have one minor quibble, though: could you please stop with your annoying habit of making unmarked secrets? We can't keep track of them and know whether we got them all or not. Thank you.
All kills, 9/10 secrets. The final rune still eludes me... :( I did record a demo in QSS but when I try to play it, it crashes the engine (no clue why), so sorry but no demo for you. I might record one again in QS when I replay the map, so stay tuned.
BTW, how did you find out about that Mathias Quad dude?

Great style and architecture. Loved the setpiece and attention to detail, the remotely Zendarish exploration around the roof areas, and there even is a Tronyn moment when trying to climb the mountains!
Gameplay on skill 2 is good fun, especially with all the Quad action - felt like the difficulty is spot-on; challenging but not over the top. I died a few times, but it never felt unfair or overwhelming. Lots of supplies and good secrets. I liked the additional rune hunt, much like in Sepulcher. It adds some off-combat activity. Only found the last one afterwards - nice reward.
The map captures the essence of AD perfectly: good details, intricate layout, meaty combat without the bulletsponge/underpoweredness, many secrets. Well done!
I liked how a whole wing was unnecessary, the one right off the center where you jump to the ledge. Really adds to the sense of exploration and place when areas like this aren't there simply for progression.
