Other PC Games Thread.
So with the film and music threads still going and being discussed... why don't we get some discussion going on something on topic to the board? What other games are you playing now?

Well.
On the plus side it is definitely looking more like a game, and the graphics are 11/10.

On the other hand, the FOV55 and perma-walk mode look alarmingly sluggish, and it still seems to be just saying BUY THIS GAME BECUZ GIGER (or that other artist dude I forget) and WEIRDO BIOMECHANICAL PORN HERP DERP.

Would like to see if it can make it more intringuing than the initial thematic impact, and carry that over a whole game and maintain interest.
Good
to see what it is about, as till now seemed more like an interactive movie and now the gameplay feels like it is along the lines of the one in the first three games in the Alone in the Dark series.
The implementation of ideas for gameplay as nice, even if the ideas themselves are not novel. What i miss is that the theme of the level now feels more conventional, and a faster release as at this pace reminds me of those game that took too long and ended up being disappointing.
Scorn
Yeah, this reinforces my reaction to the previous videos.

+ Great looking environments. (though I kind of wish the lighting was more dramatic and spookier)

- Looks too slow to be a shooter, not scary enough to be horror, and puzzles not interesting enough to be an adventure game.

Succubus prologue walkthrough. Guaranteed work-safe, family-friendly, and suitable for good honest Christian viewing everywhere.
Scorn
the first demo showed serious problems in level design: samey looking corridors that are hard to figure out which one you have already visited and which one you haven't explored yet. Also, I didn't manage to finish the demo because I had no idea what I had to do to progress. That was ~2 years ago and I hope it gets better. The visuals are stunning for sure.
In Other News.

The Outer Worlds is out on Steam, with that sweet sweet egs-exclusive-paid-beta-test discount after a year.
But I'm Currently Playing....

Hard Reset. Missed this one the first time around, tried the demo as above. Plays okay, looks very nice. Seems legit. £10 or £15 for the Redux revamped version.

Styx 2. Or Styx 1.01. Exactly the same gameplay, exactly the same annoying 4th wall-breaking protagonist, but with prettier backgrounds.
Yo.
How's my Cyberpunk 2077 dudes, dudettes, and anything in between, doing??

I've leaving it for the moment until it's patched to shittery and on sale, but....anyone having fun with it??

haven't played cyberpunk yet but I am mildly interested that the dead space 1 creator/EP is working on a new sci-fi horror game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGJEcLxqTdU

Since EA doesn't seem to want to revisit the actual franchise.
Metl!
I saw that on Blues this morning. Only cinematic video tho? Might look anyway.
Okay Yeah That Does Look Cool.
More DS welcome.

yeah no actual gameplay to show us, so really it's just a fancy announcement rather than a reveal of anything.
Unplayable
Well, Cyberpunk 2077 is pretty much unplayable for me. I hoped I'd get around 30 FPS if I lowered settings, but I get around 20 FPS rather and there's not much I can do about it either. Apart from the fact that I can hardly play it at all, I didn't like the long intro section at all, which is more like a film than a game.

Guess I'll let it collect dust until I buy a new PC.
Something A Bit Different:

Hellpoint Demo with commentary and derping. Abstract dark sci-fi soulslike. Could be of interest....
New Dead Space-ish
Could be interesting, although apparently it's set in the PUBG universe? Not sure how that's going to work out.

I'm literally looking forward to Crimson Desert on PC
Kaffikop
Crimson Desert
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BvHFj-5u3ZA trailer shows no crimson, no desert, and gameplay starts a bit late. And camera looks pretty janky. But could be cool....
Shums
Crimson Desert looked great until the cartoon green orc mens turned up :(
Looks Awesome
I'd be more than willing to overlook the green men based on the rest.
Errrr.
I didn't see any cartoon green orc mens??

I did see some truly appalling motion blur and almost equally bad sparking lighting effects in combat tho.

I've been playing this puzzle platformer that just recently came out, it's pretty cool. It's got vibes similar to VVVVVV. It took me about 2.5 hours to get to the ending, but there are still some secret items to collect which I haven't found yet. So maybe that's another hour of gameplay?

Scorn
So Scorn just came out. I didn't get great impressions from the previous gameplay videos, but I am a sucker for the Giger/Beksinski aesthetic and they seem to be hitting that. I might give it a try.

Anybody played it yet?
Metlslime
I've given it a few hours and stopped early in Act III. It's really stunning visually and the sound design is just as detailed.

The gameplay is mostly puzzle solving and exploration. I have a pretty strong stomach but there are some truly disgusting moments in the game. At one point early on I actually got nauseous.

The combat is very simplistic and unforgiving. I've only fought two monsters though and only have the first weapon. The controls are very stiff. I think that's my biggest complaint. It's really bad but the ambience of the world is so distracting you kind of forget about it.

It's pretty short from what I hear so might want to try it on Xbox Gamepass if you are on that service. Or wait for it to go on sale.
Scorn
I came here wondering if people would be discussing Scorn. I haven't played it myself but I watched a little game play. I have heard nothing but bad things about it but I am intrigued. The atmosphere and the visuals are amazing. I have been listening to the soundtrack for the past week and for the most part, it is just as mesmerizing as the art direction.

The combat looks terrible and it seems like it was tacked on because the atmosphere that they tried to create necessitated having a threat to the player. However, that might be a bit bold of a statement considering that I haven't seen too much yet.

I have never particularly wanted to play a game solely for the atmosphere but this one is an exception. I hope to get around to it some day. I suspect that I will enjoy it more than most since I am aware that I should expect bad combat.

I hear H.R. Giger's name tossed around a lot but I wonder why nobody mentions Zdzisław Beksiński. It seems like his artwork had a clear influence over the designers, and this is the first game that I've seen that tries to incorporate elements of his style into the environment.
