Quake1 For Girls
I was wondering about the dude's sounds (jumping, hit, face at the bottom, etc). Would it be possible to add an option to replace those elements with some female marine sounds? My GF likes the ambiance and exploration features in Quake, but she said that she can't identify herself with the marine, so the game gets boring for her.

What do you think about a female version of the quake hud? (please, no Barbie jokes).

Ranger sets unrealistic body standards for us all regardless of gender. She'll get over it.

I think QuakeII had female player sounds for co-op/multiplayer. You could take those sounds to use as a replacement.

if only we could all be built like a dwarf on roids.

Well I mean is just telling her to not care about relating to him and play and enjoy the game for the sake of it being, you know. a really fun game not an option? Because the option I would probably take :D
Is She A NIN Fan, By Any Chance?
If so, tell her that Ranger's voice is actually Trent Reznor...
Such Toxic Masculinity! We Must Converge... We Must Converge
Feel free to record your girlfriend making each appropriate sound for the player. I will rename the files and make a mod for her.

Or go play Quake 2.

@Barnak

This mod ("Katria" made by Dutch) has all the male sounds replaced by female sounds and it also comes with an awesome female player model and a gfx.wad to replace Ranger's faces in the HUD.

The player in quake is a midget (can I still say that word?) who runs 70 miles per hour. We all struggle to identify with him.

That said, a proper female ranger model (i.e. modelled to the same standard as that player model replacement AD uses), plus sounds, would be cool.

As long as it's a sexy female model with all the bums and boobies etc.
Mangababe To The Rescue

...to rescue me from skin textures painted by people with actual eyes?
Quake 3 Has Different Character Sounds Too. :)
I actually quite like the idea of a mod or menu option that allowed one to choose which character they played as whether male, female, beastie or eyeball on legs. :)
I Replaced The Jump "huh" With A Double Footstep Sound Once
As for the pain sounds...I haven't heard them in a while.
For The Record
All 3 of my sisters enjoy Quake as is.

So the pack that Tribal linked to seemed promising, how did it all turn out?

LOL

I'm pretty sure there is a long way to go on that map.

I don't know if this meets all your criteria but, here's a link to a female ranger

Not A Bad Idea...
That Unreal had from release if my memory is correct. You could pick your character look and gender for SP which made sense when you saw your death in third person.

Meh. My sisters all play Quake and they always just thought the jump sound was funny. Never seemed to phase them. They just had fun blowing up everything.
SailorMoon Manga
Usagi Quake2 mod model,
from a manga convertion,
turned into a Quake1 sailormoon model.
I'm bad with chinese colours.

.., to stay with the subject
while I played QTest1 again I noticed that the sounds of the player sound so feminine. It may be me, but they are at least rather comical compared to the raw sounds of the original.
