50 Best FPS On PC.
You've all read the RPS article, spooged over Quake being no. 1 this year, LOLed at most of the other choices, and no doubt assumed you - or we as a community - can do better. So let's do so.

Post your top 10 FPS! (Any more and it gets a bit TL,DR)

So, FPS, let's keep it primarly FPS, if it's FP and has significant amounts of shooting and/or is designed to be perfectly playable in that way, then it's in. So some FPS-RPG hybrids (e.g. DX (maybe SS, I dunno)) will be valid, as will FPS-melee hybrids like Vermintide or Dark Messiah as they have a lot of shooting. Full on RPGs like Skyrim are too broad so they're OUT, as will survival horror like SOMA and strat-focused hybrids like BZ and Mech games as they're too specialised, and games with the emphasis on not shooting like Thief are out too. And keep in mind the words of RPS:

Being a little more ruthless about whats genuinely great to play now, as opposed to being included primarily for their historical importance.

That's being a little more ruthless....a little.

Do your worst, Quake fans....

Dishonoured Is Shooty Enough.
The rest are definitely OUT. Including Battlezone2 which along with Skyrim would have been in my top ten.

Take it more seriously you disgusting plebs.

Damn that does look nice. Hmmm. Well, if I ever get the urge to play it again I may give you a shout to request details of your setup.

I vote Shadow of the Colossus on PS2. The camera's so janky, half the time it is unintentionally first person lol. (Still one of the best games ever made, despite that).
So Here Would Be My Complete List

2. Challenge ProMode Arena
3. Unreal
4. Half-Life
5. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl

Not included:
- Thief: The Dark Project and The Metal Age: not first person shooters.
- Deus Ex, System Shock 1 and 2: shooting not principal aspect of the game, especially in the case of SS2 and DX.
- Dishonored 1 and 2: more of a shooter than Thief but still, shooting is not the principal aspect.
- Bioshock 1 and 2: same as System Shock but with worse shooting.
I Made Shooting The Principle Aspect Of DX, DH, And BS. HTH.

SS1 And SS2 Are Clearly Shooters
Unless you don't want HL2 to count because of all the crowbar sections, extensive gravity gun sections and loads of puzzles. Heck 20-30% of the Half-Life 2 doesn't involve shooting. More if you love the gravity gun (okay might be reasonably construed).

Heh, title said 50 so I gave you 50...

@Thief out: sure the focus is on stealth but since you can shoot all the enemies I think it still qualifies.

Hmm, actually kind of difficult to decide so this may be out of order/change depending on mood:

1. Serious Sam TSE (I love TFE almost as much but TSE provides more variety).
2. Left 4 Dead 2
3. Quake
4. Unreal Tournament
5. Turok 2: Seeds of Evil
6. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: SoC
7. DOOM 2
8. Might and Magic: Dark Messiah
9. F.E.A.R.
10. Bioshock

When I actually think about it, I don't play all that many shooters. The top five are much more set in stone than the bottom half.

9. Don't starve Together (multiplayer)
10. Shadow of the Beast (Amiga)

1. Quake
2/3. Doom/Doom 2 (Doom for the atmosphere and level design, Doom 2 for the superior gameplay rhythm, they tie for me and shift by my mood)
4. Blood
5. STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl
6. Unreal
7. Hexen
8. Duke Nukem 3d
9. Rise of the Triad
10. Fallout: New Vegas

aye, it's probably safe to say that the majority of people who've spent a reasonable amount of time with doom hold this opinion.

Level design is a broad term. I'd say each one of the two games nailed a different aspect of it.

Seems like I really like Tomb Raider, lets replace slot 3 with Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (since fighting games are awesome)
FPS = First Person Shooter
And PC stands for "personal computer", typically IBM-compatible.
#45
Seems like you have no idea what FPS means.

Sorry, I read title wrong. Yeah, not all of those are FPS games at all. New List:
1. Quake 1
2. Doom 2
3. Duke Nukem 3d

That's it*

1. Quake
2. Quake 2
3. Half-Life
4. Fallout 3
5. Doom 3
6. Crysis
7. Unreal
8. Duke Nukem 3D
9. Return to Castle Wolfenstein
10. Mass Effect 2
Funny How Doom3 Gets On A Few Lists.
Given it got a fair amount if semi-disappointment in this community. I did like it quite a lot myself....although definitely prefer Doom4....

I thought about listing Doom 3 for all the things that I like about it, but decided not to because of all the small details that I think they got wrong.

Like, for example, one little thought about the main villain's laughter makes me want to forget the game even exists.
Lol
#50
As we all know, the trick to liking Doom 3 is to evaluate it for what it is, rather than what it's not (Classic Doom).

Most of the games on my list I love because they have a big community of mods behind them. Doom 3 was one of them.
My Top 3
3.Cod
2.Super 3d Noah's Ark
1.Halflife 3

you forgot about "Stalin Subway" and "Dusk 12".
