50 Best FPS On PC.
You've all read the RPS article, spooged over Quake being no. 1 this year, LOLed at most of the other choices, and no doubt assumed you - or we as a community - can do better. So let's do so.

Post your top 10 FPS! (Any more and it gets a bit TL,DR)

So, FPS, let's keep it primarly FPS, if it's FP and has significant amounts of shooting and/or is designed to be perfectly playable in that way, then it's in. So some FPS-RPG hybrids (e.g. DX (maybe SS, I dunno)) will be valid, as will FPS-melee hybrids like Vermintide or Dark Messiah as they have a lot of shooting. Full on RPGs like Skyrim are too broad so they're OUT, as will survival horror like SOMA and strat-focused hybrids like BZ and Mech games as they're too specialised, and games with the emphasis on not shooting like Thief are out too. And keep in mind the words of RPS:

Being a little more ruthless about whats genuinely great to play now, as opposed to being included primarily for their historical importance.

That's being a little more ruthless....a little.

Do your worst, Quake fans....

RAGE (a flawed gem)

Clive Barker's Jericho (barely playable unless you're good at it; compensates by being evil and oppressive)

Dark Salvation (I'm gonna be a hipster here, and pretend that I liked how retardedly unforgiving this amateur mod of a game is)

Erratum
Outcast wasn't actually first person. My bad. Scratch it and put Deus Ex 2 after SS:TFE.

The suffering and suffering 2 were underrated, but good

1. Dishonored
2. Doom
3. Quake
4. DX:HR
5. Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Those are the ones I've played through several times, way more than twice. After that it's hard for me to pick any stand outs, too many good ones to list.

Editing The First Post.
Was lying awake in the night (a bad habit my brain should really stop), trying to find a good cut-off point for "FPS", and deciding that Vermintide and Dark Messiah should be allowed. So they're in but the cut-off is before Skyrim which although is quite playable as an FP with a lot of S, there's too much focus on other stuff. And ofc Thief is out due to definite focus on not S.

Also added enouragment to stick to 10, because Mugwump's post made my monitor go all funny.

Interesting to see how many people who have Quake very high also have Unreal very high, for all of Unreal's "at-the-time" beauty and less fun physics, I think the directness of the monster blasting is more comparable to Quake than first appearances suggest.

Nice to be reminded of Undying, what a hidden gem that was.

If I had more space then Bioshock, Bioshock Infinite, Undying, UT, Rage, Wheel Of Time, Dark Messiah, Titanfall 2, in fact any of those could go in my 9/10 spots.

1) Skyrim
2) Morrowind
3) Oblivion
4) Thief DP
5) Thief2
6) Wolfenstein 2009
7) Quake

16)Doom2
17)Doom
18)Quake 2
19)Half Life2

Will There Be A Tally At The End Of This, Like A Poll?

If That's The Case
my list would be very different. I was just adding titles I didn't see already mentioned.
What Killpixel Said
Though it wouldn't be that different.
Off The Top
Doom engine games(all of them)
Quake
Duke3d
The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall
Tribes
Unreal
Thief
Tribes 2
Quake 2
Unreal Tournament
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II
GoldenEye 007
Battlezone 2
The Elder Scroll I: Arena
System Shock 2
Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear
Half-Life
Sin
Ghost Recon
Serious Sam

Sure the Elder Scrolls games are role playing, but very 1st person hacking and slashing with lots of spell and projectile firing.

If we're including Elder Scrolls games, then Oblivion gets to be in my top 3 for sure.

Skyrim was too similar to Oblivion to have any impact on me, and I could never really get into Morrowind for some reason.

I could never really get into Morrowind
