If you like Thief and stealth games in general you should really try this out. The amount of work done is quite mind-boggling.
I should get around to this, Thief is one of my all-time favourite games.

i played this when it was a mod. top notch stuff in there and really well done. never played thief much but it is a great game on it's own.

Their download mechanism suuuucks. I started it 4 hours ago and it managed to download 1.5GB (that's ~45 minutes when my mediocre connection is used well).
A release like this is the perfect use case for a torrent.
Right now I cannot even get a mirror and the tool seems to remove its own list...

it seems their server has crashed
i'm about ~1gb so far, one guy from the russian site darkfate has told me, the loading time for the mission hasn't changed and you have to wait as long as on previous version.
And it's pretty lame, i thought the loading time would speed up dramatically kinda that bfgedition
It's not BFG edition as far as I know, stock D3 GPL.
Easiest way to get the standalone version is to get the 1.8 version from moddb.com and use the updator to get the 2.0 version:

the bfg engine is quite different I believe. Not sure if it's even possible to make it load custom maps yet, IIRC there was some sort of encrypted pak format or something.
Yeah

The BFG engine is optimized for 360 and I believe all the assets are now formatted to be streamed by a 360, and there are no tools released to compile assets to that format. There's likely some proprietary tech at involved that they don't want to/can't release (or maybe don't care to, Doom3 modding wasn't that huge)
There's work being done on BFG and I've seen custom assets running in it. Still need the D3 tools though.
BTW, here's a torrent download for the game. Yeah!

Can't Get It To Work....
Obligatory surface pro issue.

Motorsep over at Doom3world.org has been successfully modding BFG for a while now, the source is easily modified to support pk4 it seems.
Hell Yeah

Congratulation goes to the team and contributors. This thing will help fans live through the franchise rape that is THIEF 4, or should i say THI4F.
